18 December 2020, in 324 the auditorium of mechanics and mathematics Department held scientific conference-workshop "Applied mathematics and mechanics" devoted to the 70th anniversary of the birth and the 45th anniversary of scientific and pedagogical activities of Doctor of Physical and mathematical Sciences, Professor Aidarkhan Zhusipbekuly Kaltaev.

Aidarkhan Kaltaev graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Kirov State University in 1973 with a degree in mechanics.

From 1975 to 1978, he was a post-graduate student of S. M. Kirov Kazakh State University, majoring in mechanics.

In 1984 he defended his PhD thesis, in 1999 – his doctoral thesis.

From 2008 to 2010-Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU.

Coordinator of the Kazakh-French Center for joint training of masters and doctors in geoenergy.

Is a grant holder:

• International Science and Technology Center (ISTC-ISTC, 1998, 2002, 2003),
• German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, 2004 and 2008),
• "Best teacher of Universities in Kazakhstan", MES RK, 2006, 2011

At the event, colleagues and fellow students of Professor Kaltayev congratulated him on the significant date and Senior Vice-rector of Al-Farabi KazNU M. M. Burkitbayev awarded the anniversarian with a silver medal for distinguished accomplishments.

Speakers from foreign universities made presentations at the scientific conference-seminar.

Also, at the end of the scientific conference-seminar, the winners of the Olympiad in mechanics were awarded.
