With the new 2017-2018 academic year, prof. orientational work at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. September 7 in the cities of Astana and Almaty (on the basis of our faculty KazNU after al-Farabi) was the Iranian IV Olympiad in geometry.
In Almaty on April 15, 2017, a citywide urdan work day was held. The urban work day was attended by students of Information Systems and Automation and Control specialties.
On April 14, 2017, the Information Systems Department jointly with the KazNU library held a meeting with the "Zhastar" theater of Astana. The creative head of the theater Nurkanat Zhakypbai and his students came to the meeting. The meeting took place in a free format, in the form of an open interview.
On April 11, 2017, the Department of Information Systems within the framework of the agreement signed by al-Farabi KazNU and Kaspersky Lab, the Center "Information Security" on the basis of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics held a training seminar "Kaspersky day". More than 80 students and teachers took part in the event. During the training, several competitions were organized, in which the undergraduates of the information security system took the first place by collecting 765 points out of a possible 800.
So ended the annual contest student spring festival at the Kazakh national University named after al-Farabi. This talent contest is held in the walls of our Alma mater, to identify the best qualities of our students in different fields such as dancing, singing, acting.Compared to last year, the format of the competition in 2017 has changed.

A feature of this Olympiad, held on March 24 and 25, is the use of Knights Landing's most modern 64-core processor for testing programs. Participants of the Olympiad prepared their programs in Fortran and C ++ programming languages using MPI and OpenMP libraries. The Olympiad was attended by 24 students, among whom, in addition to students of KazNU were students of the Eurasian National University. L.N. Gumilyov, International University of Information Technology, Suleyman Demirel University and Almaty Technological University.
On March 24 there was an appeal. This year the schoolchildren quite actively appealed, and not without result.
At the official closing of the Olympics, Academician Askar Jumadildaev and deputy dean of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University Asylov Asylbek Abdiashimovich made a call to engage in science. Each participant received a certificate of the participant, teachers and trainers letters of thanks, and winners - certificates, diplomas and valuable prizes.
The winners of the Regional stage of the Euler Olympiad, representatives from all regions of Kazakhstan, arrived in Almaty on March 21 for the final stage of the IX Olympiad named after Euler. All students of Nazarbayev intellectual schools were accommodated in the NISH HBN boarding school in Almaty. Students of the network of Kazakh-Turkish lyceums in Aksai KTL, Almaty. The remaining nonresident schoolchildren in the hotel of the House of Young Scientists on the campus of KazNU named after al-Farabi.
