From January 21 to 29, 2018, c, Campus De Nayer, Belgium, and visited the company QinetiQ on the development of satellites and space technologies. The course included such areas as programming on C, VHDL on FPGA, digital signal processing, automated systems on Raspberry Pi and electronic design and assembly of space systems.

17-18 of January, 2018 at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, dedicated a scientific seminar to the 80th anniversary of the birth of the honorary scientist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Temirbolat Serikkali Eskaliuly, "Serikkali Temirbolat" published in the series "Onegelі omir".

Based on the al-Farabi Kazakh National University under the leadership of Academician G.M. Mutanov in the period from December 26 to December 28, 2017 International Conference "Inverse Problems in Finance, Economics and Life Sciences" was held. 

The Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics implementing the International Project «Enhanced capacity of engineering educators within Kazakhstan universities to teach course content and use novel pedagogical methods to up skill graduates» (Industry Academia Partnership Programme, IAPP\1516\18) financed by Royal Academy of Engineering and Newton Fund. Head of the Project from Kazakhstan side is professor Balakayeva Gulnar Tultayevna. Terms of the project: March 2016 – February 2018. Grant holder is Newcastle University, total amount 50 thousand GBP.

At 14.00 p.m November 14, 2017 in the red hall Department of Differential Equations and Control Theory of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held an extended meeting of the department dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan SA Aysagaliev.

September 11, 2017 at a meeting of the University's rectorate, senior students and undergraduates of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics successfully engaged in science were awarded scholarships named after the Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Academician of the National and International Engineering Academies, State Prize Laureate, mathematical sciences, professor N.T Danayev.
