Meeting with Central Asian researcher, orientalist Mansura Haidar

On October 18, 2019, Indian scientist, professor Dr.Mansura Haidar visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University . In the Abay hall of Al-Farabi library with the participation of lecturers and students, MA and PhD students there was held the presentation of the book of professor Mansura Haidar "Mirza Muhammad Haidar Dughlat Kurkan", published this year. Dr.Haidar, who speaks Urdu, Persian, English and Russian, answered the student's questions with great excitement. Dean of the faculty of history, candidate of historical sciences, associated professor Nogaybaeva Mendigul Sagatovna thanked the scientist and presented gifts on behalf of the faculty. Lecturers and students took memorial photos together with Professor Mansura Haidar. October 19 was held a meeting with Mansour Haidar and Faculty of Indology, Faculty of Vostokovedeniya. In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed issues of research in Kazakhstan. On October 19, a meeting was held with Mansura Khaidar and teachers of the Indology Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. During the meeting, issues of studying indology in Kazakhstan were discussed. At the end of the meeting, Kazakh-style souvenirs were presented to Mansur Haidar on behalf of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and a memorable photo was taken.

Malaysian guests at the Faculty of Oriental Studies

A group of delegations led by a professor of the International Islamic University in Malaysia, PhD Haslina binti Hassan, visited the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The International Islamic University of Malaysia was founded on May 23, 1983 with the support of the Government of Malaysia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as the most advanced Islamic university in the world. The International Islamic University (UIAM) is located in the Gombak district of the state of Selengor, thirteen kilometers from the capital of Kuala Lumpur, and is famous for its extensive library fund and research centers. Currently, the university has 14 faculties and undergraduate specialties working with various programs. The university also trains qualified specialists in master's and doctoral programs.

Professor Haslina binti Hassan, Dr. Nizam bin Abdulaziz attended the reception of the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, PhD Paltore Yktiyar Moldatoreuly and shared their views on the relevance of education and science in the field of Oriental studies at two universities, including the importance and priorities of teaching Arabic, about future joint research and the possibilities of organizing a common event.

The Malaysian delegation also met with the professors and students of the Department of Middle East and South Asia of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and shared information about the organization of the educational process in Malaysian universities and getting scholarships from the state, including international grants for foreign students. They also talked about research centers and structural units within the walls of the International Islamic University, designed to train Orientalists (fluent in Arabic) and the conditions created for foreign students. At the end of the meeting, the guests answered questions posed by students of the faculty of oriental studies.

A Malaysian orientalist-scientist, PhD Haslina binti Hassan, told students in the Arabic department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, who are interested in learning Arabic and literature in Malaysia, about best practices in training Orientalists and about opportunities for improving knowledge and sharing experiences at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. In turn, she wished all young students studying the Oriental language success and good luck in their future life.

Faculty of Oriental studies of KazNU Al-Farabi had a meeting with Professor of Shanghai University of Foreign languages of China, researcher of Russia and Central Asia UAN Ning

October 12th with the participation of professors, undergraduates, students of the Department of Chinese studies of the Faculty of Oriental studies of KazNUAl-Farabi had a meeting with Professor of Shanghai University of Foreign languages of China, researcher of Russia and Central Asia UAN Ning. During the meeting, the Professor acquainted with the brief history of the Shanghai University of foreign languages and the direction of its research work. Upon completion, the students asked the Professor interesting questions, to which they received appropriate answers. The meeting was interesting and informative.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, THE GREAT MAN!

150 years ago, on October 2, 1869, in India, in the state of Gujarat, the Father of the Indian nation, a political and public figure, author of the ideology of Ahimsa, Satyagrah Mahatma Gandhi was born. According to the great poet and writer, composer and artist, Rabindranath Tagore, Gandhi was a great man who proved himself to the whole world, proving that you can win without bloodshed and violence. He called the world to peace and opposed the caste and racist system. At the celebration of the birthday of such a great man, a democratic country like Kazakhstan never stood aside. According to tradition, on this celebrated day, a festive event dedicated to the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi was held in the park of Mahatma Gandhi in Almaty. The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Kazakhstan, Mr. Prabhat Kumar, Honorary Consul of India in Almaty, Mr. Martin Clemens, Director of the Swami Vivekananda Indian Cultural Center, Mr. Sanjay Garg, guests from the Almaty City and Akimat and dean of the faculty Oriental Studies al-Farabi KazNU. Mr. Y.M. Paltore. Each guest made a speech about the path of Mahatma Gandhi, who called for peace not only India, but the whole world. With such a big heart that lurks in a small body, he encouraged to be united, kind, to be friends and love. That is why such a country as Kazakhstan, where many nations live peacefully and together, celebrate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, a great person and soul. During the festive event, songs were sung, students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University read verses and aphorisms in Hindi, dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi.
The event influenced us, the young generation, to get acquainted with the life of such a great man, to imitate his kindness and friendship. The name of Mahatma Gandhi, who bent the whole world with kindness and generosity, will undoubtedly remain on the pages of history as a great personality with a capital letter.

Presentation of the "Three Arys" book-album organized by International Organization TURKSOY

October 9, 2019 at 15 hours in the hall to them. N. Dauletova’s National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a literary evening dedicated to the 125th birthday of the poet, classic of Kazakh literature Ilyas Zhansugurov, and the presentation of the book-album “Ush Arys”, published on the initiative of the International Organization TURKSOY.
The “Ush Arys” book-album is dedicated to the literary heritage of the three pillars of Kazakh literature S. Seifullin, B. Maylin and I. Zhansugurov, who were born in one year (1894) and became victims of Stalin’s repressions in the same year (1938).
The album-book includes works of art by famous Russian masters of the last century and the present, based on the literary works of these poets and writers. The purpose of this project is to learn about the literary heritage of the masters of the pen, to demonstrate the literary works of prominent poet and writer to readers through art. As part of the event, a book exhibition was organized from the fund of the National Library dedicated to the life and work of I. Zhansugurov. Relatives of S. Seifullin, B. Maylin and I. Zhansugurov, as well as representatives of the intelligentsia and literature lovers participated in the event.

Dedication for 1st year students of TURKSOY Department - "Welcome party".

As the President of Kazakhstan K. K. Tokayev noted in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan, 2019 in the country was adopted as the "year of youth". On October 4, within the framework of the President's address, in order to increase the cognitive abilities of 1st year students and strengthen friendship between young people, a festive event "Welcome party" was organized for 1st year students of the faculty of Oriental studies of KazNU.Al-Farabi, with TURKSOY.

The event began with the greeting of the Deputy Dean of the faculty for teaching and educational work sh. E. Kanafyeva and the head of the Department turksa Kydyrbaeva U. T. and continued with the speeches of students of 2-4 courses. Senior students sang songs in Turkish, performed the traditional dance "halayy", and students who have passed an internship abroad under the program of academic mobility shared their impressions about student life abroad. They shared their tips for future practice in the walls of the niversity. Took part in intellectual games and various interesting competitions.

That is, this event is the first step in uniting students. Since at this holiday students not only got acquainted with each other, but also showed their talents, accumulated experience for the coming years, and we hope that the festive moment is the beginning of the brightest, most unforgettable period in the life of a student. This event will become a tradition at the Department in the future.

Presentation of the book A. Burana "Turcologist of Turkic World apart from Turkey"

On 2nd of October, 2019, at 15.00, in №546, Faculty of Oriental Studies, in Turksoy Department there was hold a meeting with professor of Firat University (Turkey), turkologist Ahmet Buran. At the meeting there were also participated other teachers, professors, doctoral students and students of Turksoy Department.

At the meeting there was a presentation of Ahmet Buran`s book "Turcologist of Turkic World apart from Turkey." As Ahmet Burana explained "My Teacher, Pr. Dr. Tuncel has already published the work about Turcologists in Turkey. Thanks to his support we started to publish this book which can introduce all turkologists in Turkic World with each other».

Ahmet Buran devoted approximately year and half in the summer to this work and had faced with some problems in gathering information. He also thanked teachers and professors of Turksoy Department Mrs. Kossymova Gulbanu, PhD Kydyrbaeva Umit, Abuova Akzharkyn and Shuinshina Nazym for translating and giving information.

With Kyrgyz, Chuvash, Tatar, Uzbek, Turkic turcologists; there were included Kazakh turcologists such as A. Baitursynuly, K. Кemengeruly, К. Zhubanov, I. Kansesbayev, researcher of Turkic peoples' exploits. Aidarov, R. Yougynikova, A. Haydar, Sh. Sarybaeva, A. Ibatov, T.Zhanuzak, A.Bolganbaevich, K.Akhanov, A.Kuryshenovich, K.Umiraliev, E.Zhanpeisov, K.Musayev, K.Yesssenov, B.Abylkasymov, M.Tomanov, A.Amanzholov, U.Aytbaevich, Т.
