At the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Master’s students of the 2nd year of the educational programs "7M05107 - Biology", "7M01513 - Biology" of the L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University are undergoing scientific training.

      From November 22th to December 2th 2021 within the framework of a bilateral agreement between the universities of the NJSC «Al-Farabi Kazakh National University» and the NJSC «L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University», teachers of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology conducted advanced training courses for 39 Master’s students in the educational programs "7M05107 - Biology", "7M01513 - Biology" of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The course included lectures and practical classes.

     Undergraduates of the L.N.Gumilyov ENU took practical classes on advanced modern molecular genetic methods at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and at the branch of the Department based on the Institute of Genetics and Physiology. The undergraduates got acquainted with the basics of the method of fragmentary analysis, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), isolation of genomic DNA from biomaterials and checking its quality, with technologies for using DNA biochips from Illumina (iScan System) to determine genetic diversity, as well as with the method of DNA comets and software for analyzing obtained results.

     To get acquainted with the diversity of the animal world of Kazakhstan, Master’s students had a tour of the Biological Museum of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and in the Main Botanical Garden of the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction they got acquainted with the diversity of the flora of Kazakhstan, including learned about rare and endangered plant species.

     At the end of the scientific internship, Master’s students of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University were awarded certificates of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
