The project was implemented in cooperation with Al-Farabi KazNU with the International Financial Center Astana (AIFC) and Hamad Bin Khalifa Qatar University. Rector of KazNU Galym Mutanov, President of the Hamad Bin Khalifa University Dr. Ahmad Hasna, Vice-Chairman of the AIFC Board Yernur Rysmagambetov, representatives of financial institutions, teachers and students took part in the opening ceremony. The unique Center, equipped with the latest technology and modern software, will provide training in exchange trading skills, the basics of fundamental and technical analysis, and financial engineering. There will also be the possibility of practical investment of funds in the desired market segment and cooperation with the largest exchanges. The Center will become a research and educational cluster on Islamic finance.

On May 2, 2019, it was held a meeting with the participation of representatives of the Malaysian company ZICO Shariah Advisory Services, the International Financial Center, the Higher School of Economics and Business and the Center for Islamic Finance. This meeting was held in the framework of cooperation between AIFC and KazNU on the development of Islamic finance in Kazakhstan.

International Scientific Conference in the framework of the VI International Farabi Readings, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of al-Farabi KazNU  and the 70th anniversary of the Higher School of Economics and Business "KAZAKHSTAN IN THE MULTIPOLAR WORLD: ECONOMIC SCENARIOS", where master students in Islamic finance Nadira Zhakambaeva, Zhanar Kozhakhmed, Aigerim Meirmanova, Ainur  Saginbayeva and PhD student Laura Kuanova presented their articles which will be published in the proceeding of the conference. 

Vice-Rector of KazNU Askar Khikmetov held a meeting with representatives of the Malaysian consulting company «Amanie Advisors» and the Astana International Financial Center. The event took place within the framework of cooperation between the AIFC and the University on the development of Islamic Finance and the work of the joint Research and Education Center of Islamic Finance and Financial Analytics.

As a partner of Hamad Bin Khalifa University we took a part in The  Global Islamic Finance Conference on Awqaf at the College of Islamic Studies of Hamad Bin Khalifa University with the participation of th Governor of Central bank of Qatar, Minister of Endowments of Qatar, Researchers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey and Kazakhstan.

The Special edition of news paper for 25 anniversary of national currency “Tenge”, which is prepared by professors and teachers of Finance department, HSEB, al-Farabi KazNU.

KazNU took part in the «Islamic Finance Week 2018» as an advanced University for implementation and development of the Islamic finance model in the sphere of education. Dean of the Higher School of Economics and Business, Dr. Rimma Sagiyeva spoke at the panel session on the Professional Development (Professional Development in Islamic Finance), where she highlighted the initiative to open an Islamic Finance Center at KazNU in collaboration with the AIFC and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar.
