Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Faculty of Journalism held a meeting of the Department of Publishing, Editorial and Design Arts. The meeting, which took place in the winter garden hall of the student palace named after Omirbek Zholdasbekov, was opened by the head of the department - doctor of philological sciences, professor Aigul Ramazanova, who introduced the team members to the new dean Sansyzbai Sharapiuly.
On September 15, a lecture on "Technology of publishing and editorial processes" was held in our department with subject teacher Abdiraman Ermakhan Shaikhyuly and entrepreneur Kalu Toktabolatov, a well-known book distributor in our country. During the lesson, the future publishers-editors shared their thoughts with a special guest in the framework of the current issues of the publishing industry and shared their opinions.
Readers' Club "Seltetkizer", consisting students of the Journalism faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, held an evening "independence and poetry of students" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence.
On February 12, 2021, on the ZOOM platform, an online meeting was held with Raisa Kadyr, founder of the Steppe & World Publishing House. The meeting was organized by the Department of Publishing, Editing and Design Art of the Faculty of Journalism of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The meeting was attended by lecturers and students.
On 12 February, 2021 a unique international online workshop was held by Oleg Sidorov, Ph. D., editor-in-chief of the magazine «Ilin», which is published in the capital of the Republic of Sakha /Yakutia/, Yakutsk.
On January 29, 2021, the Zoom platform hosted the first online master class for future editors, publishers and designers. A well-known publicist, journalist Bakhtiyar Tokhtakhunov, editor-in-chief of the republican "Yuridicheskaya Gazeta" held a master class.
The Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific online conference "Publishing and the Literary process: writer, editor, reader", dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the talented writer, poet, scientist and journalist Nurzhan Kuantayev.
Al-Farabi KazNU has issued a textbook "Culture of world and national publishing" for students and undergraduates in the specializations "Publishing", "Polygraphy", "Design", "Journalism".
The 3rd International Conference Elsevier Science Day in Kazakhstan on 2-3 December 2020 was held online. The forum for two days riveted the attention of young scientists, including those from the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
On November 13, 2020, the Department of Publishing-editing and design art of the faculty of Journalism of al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has organized an international scientific and practical online conference "Current Issues and Challenges Faced in publishing industry”. It was organized to mark the 70th anniversary of the scientist-bibliographer, publisher, editor, candidate of Philology, associate Professor Konyr Mukatayeva.
