Today, a workshop was held with the editor of Atamura publishing house Raikhan Raybayeva. Our guest introduced the stages of the book before it reached our hands and told about the fun and difficulties of publishing. He introduced what books were published, what new introductions and changes, various programs that develop the child's level of logical growth.
One of the most active at the conference was the section of publishing and design. Authoritative commission considered the submitted scientific works and determined the winners.
Scientific reports by the students of publishing, editorial and design were marked with honorary diplomas, certificates, diplomas, souvenirs.

Rector Diploma of 3 degree for participation and presentation at the International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Farabilemі" 6-8 April 2023 received a second-year student Mukhamedieva-Adel (supervisor - teacher Mukhamadieva L.I.). Subject of the report "Review of foreign student newspapers: content and design".
Theses of 9 participants were published in the scientific collection "World of Farabi", Materials of the International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Farabi әlemi" 2023.
On the 7th of April 2023 an international scientific conference of students and young scientists "Farabi Alemi" was held at the faculty of journalism of Kazakh National University after Al-Farabi. The department of publishing, editorial and design took an active part in the scientific forum. Interesting reports were presented by students of publishing and media design.
Topics touched on a variety of aspects of publishing, creation of media projects, content and design of traditional and new media. Particular attention was paid to Kazakhstan's topics: the specifics of development of the publishing industry and visual journalism. Reports connected with formation of an image of the Kazakh book, carrying out the international book fairs, experience of the South Korean book publishing and etc. caused interest.
First-year students, who are just starting their way and mastering scientific paths, also took part in the conference!
Acquaintance with book history and book culture for first-year students of the Department of Publishing, Editorial and Design Art began with the Museum of Rare Books. There, in the famous National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ancient books are kept.
A meaningful event for the cultural and spiritual life of Kazakhstan was the opening in 2010 of the Museum of Rare Books. The main task of the gallery's exposition was to reflect the unique path of publications, along which the book went from the first manuscripts to the latest versions of printing art. In addition, the museum attracts the attention of all book lovers of the city, as a center for popularizing the national history and culture of the book.
Today, the Museum's fund includes a collection of more than 500 rare books and manuscripts. In terms of chronological order, they include the period from the 18th-19th centuries until the 40s of the 20th century. The museum keeps ancient domestic and foreign manuscripts, handwritten and early printed books in Arabic, Latin, of great historical, cultural and scientific significance.
The exhibition attracts by the fact that copies of books are radically different from those that we see on the bookshelves. It is amazing that the manuscripts have survived to this day. It feels like touching eternity!
INFORMATION LETTER
The Department of Publishing, Editorial and Design Art, Faculty of Journalism, KazNU named after Al-Farabi from April 20 to 21, 2023 holds the VI Republican Subject Olympiad for students of national, state and non-state universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the direction of training "Publishing" (educational program).
The goal of the Olympiad is to attract students to the publishing sphere and the development of professional and creative competencies in the direction of "Publishing."
The objectives of the Olympics are:
- integration into the development of domestic book culture, publishing and book business;
- development of creative and professional skills of future publishing editors;
- exchange of experience between higher educational institutions that train specialists of the Publishing Business branch;
- increasing the importance and propaganda of publishing and editorial activities in the media market;
- increasing the creative skills of the Olympiad participants.
The Olympiad is held in four stages among students of the full-time educational unit of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A new book has been added to the portfolio of the Department of publishing, editorial and design art! The collectives met with the author of the album-Book «Turan romanticism» of Professor, designer Zhanarbek Beristenov and got acquainted with the works of famous designers-artists of the world.
On February 16, the famous poet and writer Fatima Zaburaevna presented her book at our university. Guests from different regions came and congratulated our aunt. The presentation included both singing and dancing. This evening gave the students a great mood. He even received books signed by Mrs. Zabura as a gift.
