CENTRAL ASIAN TRAINING GUIDE TO JOURNALISM

At the initiative of the Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a project has been developed to publish a Central Asian textbook on data collection for journalistic investigations. The project was supported by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty with the aim of strengthening the sustainable development of journalism education. In the context of a pandemic in the media sphere of the Central Asian republics, both distinctive features in the activities of the media and general aspects of a global nature are observed. The latter include the problems of gender discrimination, a decline in the quality of education, corruption, an unsatisfactory state of medicine, and others.

To study and generalize new trends and features of journalistic practice, the idea arose of joint training with the departments of journalism faculties of leading universities in four countries - Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - a project to publish a textbook. On August 3, 2020, this issue was discussed online, with the participation of scientists, journalists and heads of departments of journalism departments of universities in the region. The faculty of journalism of KazNU became the centralizing link in this work.

Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Printing and Electronic Media of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Gulmira Serikbaykyzy Sultanbaeva made a report and presentation at an online forum, which outlined the goals, objectives and basic requirements for organizing work on the publication of such a large-scale manual. The discussion participants supported the proposal on the structure, content and thematic focus of the planned publication.
