KazNU lecturers exchanged experience with universities of Uzbekistan

Lecturers of the Department of Analytical, Colloidal Chemistry and Technology of Rare Elements (Argimbayeva A.M., Rakhymbay G.S., Bakhytzhan E.) visited the National University of Uzbekistan named after. Mirzo Ulugbek and Tashkent Pharmaceutical University with a course of lectures and laboratory classes within the disciplines "Analytical Chemistry" and "Physical and Chemical Methods of Analysis". In addition, the teachers of the department took part in a scientific conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Tashkent Pharmaceutical University and presented their research work. Cooperation of KazNU with Samarkand State University

During the meeting, an agreement was reached between the departments on cooperation in the scientific, scientific-methodical and educational-methodical fields. We exchanged views with students on the course of the educational process at KazNU, ongoing work on a modular credit system.

His research interests include physicochemical interactions between multiphase matrices with biotic and abiotic materials to enable rational selection and manipulation of materials to improve their safety and quality.

Annual «ChemGames» Olympiad

In order to increase the interest of students in the study of petrochemistry, the development of intellectual and creative abilities, the annual ChemGames Olympiad was held on November 18, 2022, in which all areas of chemistry were touched upon. The event was organized by the team of SPE KazNU (Society of Petroleum Engineers), in particular Rymzhanova Zhansaya (President of SPE KazNU), Zabara Nazar (HR-manager) and Tasemen Yerasyl (PR-officer), together with the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry in the lecture hall at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of KazNU. al-Farabi.

We had the honor to invite Galeeva Alina Kulbayevna (Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology), Azhigulova Ryskul Ninilovna (Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Senior lecturer at the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry), Agibayeva Laura Erlanovna (Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific and Innovative Works and International Relations, senior lecturer) and Tusupbekova Alma Saparovna (Candidate of Chemical Sciences and associate Professor at the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry).

All the teams proved to be very active in all the rounds held:

At the final stage of the award ceremony, all team members were awarded a certificate of participation in the Olympiad. According to the results of the Olympiad, the prizewinners were determined, each of whom was awarded material prizes: the team “Malachite” – 3rd place, the team “Wolfram” - 2nd place and the honorable 1st place was taken by the team “Patriots”. Also, during the event, guests who actively participated in the quiz “Kahoot!” for the audience.

A.A. Yakovkin Corresponding Member of Academy of Sciences of USSR XI Interuniversity Conference of scientific works of students, “Physical chemistry as the basis of new technologies and materials”

On November 16, 2022 the A.A. Yakovkin сorresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR XI Interuniversity Conference of scientific works of students “Physical chemistry - the basis of new technologies and materials” was held in St. Petersburg State Technological Institute (Technical University) jointly with the D.I. Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society. The conference was held via remote access on the ZOOM platform. The conference was attended by 68 undergraduate and graduate students from 20 Russian universities and research centers in 4 sections. Students and masters presented scientific results in the field of physical chemistry in the design and synthesis of materials, including functional and nanomaterials. Works on physical chemistry aspects of new technology development, inorganic materials, nanomaterials, nanocomposites, renewable and nuclear energy were also presented.

During the conference such factors as novelty, relevance, purpose of the work, theoretical and experimental parts, availability of properly designed presentation, oratorical skills of the speaker, correct answers to questions were taken into account. The works of the participants of the conference were published in the form of a collection of conference materials with the assignment of the ISBN number. Collection of works is available on the Internet.

By results of the Conference diploma of the first degree was marked out work of undergraduate 1 year student of specialty “7М07101-Petrochemistry” Tasbolatova Nurly Armatkyzy, who presented oral report in English on “Study of catalytic activity of catalase immobilized within macroporous polyampholyte cryogel matrix in oxidation of aliphatic alcohols”.

Members of the student chapter " Al-Farabi KazNU SPE" at the Annual Caspian Technical Conference

On November 15-17, 2022, the Annual Caspian Technical Conference was held in Astana with the participation of our students from the student branch of "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University SPE Student Chapter". This year's event presented an extensive technical program that covers 19 disciplines and 15 technical sections, in which high-level speakers and experts were involved. Industry leaders and technical experts shared their vision and understanding of the oil and gas industry, the technical program covered a wide range of technical topics. There were representatives and specialists in the field of health, safety and the environment. Research centers, universities and institutes took part. On the second day of the conference, the awarding ceremony of the regional laureates of 2022 took place, during which the student branch of "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University SPE Student Chapter" was awarded the "Presidential award for outstanding student chapter 2022". Only 5% of the 400 existing SPE student departments receive this award every year. We express our great gratitude to the organizer of this conference for giving a valuable opportunity to take advantage of meetings with experts in discovering new technologies and understanding in the oil and gas industry.
