The traditional Week of Korean Studies started in KazNU after al-Farabi from October 30, 2017. The Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East plays an important role in enhancing mutual understanding between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea. For more than 25 years, the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East has been carrying out a traditional event annually: Week of Korean Studies at KazNU named after al-Farabi.

In October 27 at the Faculty of International Relations, students of the 4th year of the specialty of international law, within the framework of the project "Ainaladı nurlandyr", have organized the moot court "The History of one Contract". During the court game, students solved the case, and also were able to discuss the questions and share their thoughts.

The lecture was attended by teachers of the department, doctoral students, undergraduates, students. At the Faculty of Oriental Studies there is a scientific and practical seminar "Methods of reading and research of texts in the Chagatai language" dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Turkey.

The Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU named after al-Farabi honored a group of public figures and teachers according to the order No. 0703/10540 of the " Қазақстан Ұстаздары" society on the basis of the decision of the Accreditation Council for the purpose of agitating teachers who supported the policy of the Head of State who became real experts in their affairs , educating students and actively participating in public work, honestly performing their duties in the interests of the country on the implementation of institutional reforms in various regions of the country.

On October 6, 2017, at the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, at the Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology, the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference on "Source Studies and Archival Studies: New Paradigms of Research" dedicated to the 70th anniversary and memory of the Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor K. Atabaev. The conference was organized by the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, the Department of Archival Affairs and Documentation of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is devoted to the discussion of the key problems of the source study of the history of Kazakhstan. The program of the Conference included the holding of a plenary session and the work of two sections focused on tasks: 1. Prospects for the development of source study and archaeography; 2. International Ranking agency, Quacquarelli Symonds announced its an annual result of the regional ranking called Emerging Europe and Central Asia University Rankings, QS EECA 2018 on October 17th, 2017. . Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was ranked among the top-10 universities by moving forward.
