On October 6, 2017, at the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, at the Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology, the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference on "Source Studies and Archival Studies: New Paradigms of Research" dedicated to the 70th anniversary and memory of the Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor K. Atabaev. The conference was organized by the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, the Department of Archival Affairs and Documentation of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is devoted to the discussion of the key problems of the source study of the history of Kazakhstan. The program of the Conference included the holding of a plenary session and the work of two sections focused on tasks: 1. Prospects for the development of source study and archaeography; 2. The role of archives in the information society.     

The materials of the scientific conference showed the relevance of archival problems within the framework of the Digital Kazakhstan program, the importance of the source study of archival documents, the need for theoretical and methodological research in the field of document management. Taking into account the content of the reports and the discussions that took place on the results of the Conference, the following conclusions and recommendations

- Notes the importance and continued relevance of the results of theoretical, methodological and practical research in the field of source study, archeography, archival studies and document management

- to continue successful and effective study of theoretical, methodological and practical research in the field of source study, archaeography, archival studies and documentation in the framework of the national program "Ruhani zhanғyru";

- publish in scientific publications and the media the conclusions and results of scientific research in the field of source study, archeography, archival studies and document management;

- Introduce the academic discipline "Fundamentals of Documentation" for all faculties of the University;

- take as a basis the materials of the conference in the preparation and development of training courses for humanitarian specialties;- to organize a scientific platform, "round tables" for free exchange of experience and problems in the field of source study, archeography, archival studies and document management in cooperation with foreign scientific researchers and scientific organizations;

- to support the patriotic action of the RSU "National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books" for the collection of the written heritage "Elt mrazy - halyқ igiligi";- to carry out complex work on the creation of a domestic database on topical problems of source study and archival science and to expand the introduction of information technologies into practice;

- to replicate the experience of the archives of the republic in creating databases on the problems of national history.
