A ceremonial meeting and Republican scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary and memory of Gulshaukhar Shagatayevna Zhambatyrova, the first dean of the international relations faculty will be held on May 28, 2013 at the faculty of international relations al-Farabi KazNU.

SummerSchool organized bythe Al-FarabiKazakh NationalUniversity, in cooperationwith theCentral Asian Biodiversity Network (CABNET),with the support of the University ofthe ErnstMoritzArndt(Greifswald, Germany), the Foundation for the Conservation of NatureMichael Succow(Germany).

Professor of the University of Colorado (USA), director of the laboratory for human origins Michelle Glantz, as well as professors of the University of Colorado, Director of the Center of Archaeology Jason Labelle will held the lectures and consultations on issues and problems of human evolution before the history of Central Asia, Neanderthal morphology and evolutionary history and anthropology at the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Museology Faculty of History, Archaeology and Ethnology (Museum of Ethnology) during the 06 of May – the 23 of May, 2013.

The 2'nd Regional Olympic Game among students of "Tourism" specialty of higher educational institutions of Almaty and Almaty region has finished in KazNU. "Bolashak" team (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University) was a winner, team "Zhihankez" (Abay KazNPU) gained the second place, third place was given to the "55'th parallel "( Abylay Khan KazUIR & IL) according to the results of two days competition in the competitive program and competitions in sports distances of tourism technology.Teams of KAZACT, Turan University, T.Ryskulov KAZEU became prize-winners in separate types of program.

The Department of International Relations of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (USA) and Center about the UN at the Al-Farabi KazNU announce the start of the application process for participation in the four-week training course titled “Introduction to Weapons of Mass Destruction Nonproliferation”. The course is intended for Master’s students, PhD students and young scholars specializing in International Relations, International Law, Political Science and Nuclear Physics. If interested, Master’s students, PhD students and young researchers specializing in other fields may also participate in the training.
