The traditional Week of Korean Studies started in KazNU after al-Farabi from October 30, 2017. The Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East plays an important role in enhancing mutual understanding between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea. For more than 25 years, the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East has been carrying out a traditional event annually: Week of Korean Studies at KazNU named after al-Farabi. The purpose of this event is to raise the level of understanding of the social and cultural life of modern Korea by students and teachers, not only specializing in Korean studies, but also by all residents of al-Farabi Smart University through a series of activities.

Everyone will be given the opportunity to get acquainted with the history, traditions, customs and other aspects of Korean culture, as well as communicate with representatives of the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Korea, as well as the business staff of the leading organizations of South Korea in Almaty.

In the 2017-2018 academic year, this event is held as part of career guidance work with sponsored schools in Almaty. A peculiar open day began in Korean: with a bow and greetings. On this day the participants got acquainted with the history and culture of South Korea, witnessing the Intellectual show "What do we know about Korea?".
