Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the top 10 best universities in emerging Europe and central Asia in 2017/2018 year.

International Ranking agency, Quacquarelli Symonds announced its an annual result of the regional ranking called Emerging Europe and Central Asia University Rankings, QS EECA 2018 on October 17th, 2017. . Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was ranked among the top-10 universities by moving forward.

QS EECA University Rankings highlights the leading 251 universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia based on the nine performance indicators. These indicators include the following indictors such as academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty/student ratio (15%), papers per faculty (10%), web impact (10%), staff with a PhD (5%), citations per paper (5%), international faculty (2.5%) and international students (2.5%).

In the top 10 universities, there are three universities from Russia(Lomonosov MSU -1, Novosibirsk State University -2, St. Petersburg State University ) , two universities (Bogazici University -7, Middle East Technical University -9) from Turkey and four universities (University of Tartu -3? Charles University -5, University of Warsaw -, Czech Technical University -6) from Eastern Europe Countries along with KazNU. 

Kazakh universities considerably have improved their positions in the ranking and there were added new universities making up total 19 universities. The following positions taken by leading universities of Kazakhstan; Gumilev ENU named - 24, Kazakh Satpayevonal Universty - 50, KBTU’- 68, Kazakh National Agricultural university-  77.  

Al-Farabi KazNU was able to demonstrate this excellent result based on the active leadership approach in developing major university performances oriented to the performance level of the world leading universities. In the last five years, all academic programs were evaluated by leading European accreditation agencies and were awarded  a full accreditation by proving the quality of academic services. Increasing number of international students and professors shows that al-Farabi KazNU is a key academic destination in the Central Asia. The Universities continues to be a leading research institution by producing highly cited research outputs in the region. As a hub of the United Nation on Academic Impact, al-Farabi KazNU contributes to the development of not only region but also whole world.
