International round table on sustainable development goals (SDGs) "Genetic technologies in crop production"

On February 3, 2023, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international round table on sustainable development goals (SDGs) "Genetic technologies in crop production". The event was attended by domestic and foreign scientists, teachers and students, master students.

The library of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University “Genetic technologies in plant sciences” with the participation of students, at which scientists from one of the world's leading research institutes for agricultural crops – John Innes Center (JIC), UK: Prof. Cristobal Uauy, Dr. Luzie Wingen, Anna Backhaus, presented on unlocking the polyploid potential of wheat through genomics, breaking wheat breeding barriers and morphogenetic systems of wheat.


Scientists from Kazakhstan also presented findings and views. Dr. Morgunov A.I., who for a long time headed International Winter Wheat Improvement Program in Turkey under the auspices of International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, participated in the discussion.
