Deputy Dean of the Higher School of Economics and Business for Science and IR, PhD Zhidebekkyzy Aknur participated in the meeting of the expert group of the 5th Kazakh-Qatari joint high-level commission. The Intergovernmental Commission worked on February 13-14, 2020 in Nur-Sultan. The parties discussed the forthcoming in March 2020 the visit to Kazakhstan of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, as well as the prospects for interaction in trade, economic, investment, financial, banking and educational spheres.

The issues of further cooperation of Al-Farabi KazNU with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (as part of the Qatar Foundation), the development of the Islamic Finance Centre, created on the basis of the Higher School of Economics and Business, the possibility of launching a dual-degree program in Islamic finance, etc. were discussed at the meeting. Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of Qatar in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education of Qatar, Qatar Fund for Development, Nazarbayev University and the AIFC also participated in the expert group in the direction of "Education".

The main achievement of the commission's work can be considered the agreement reached on the provision of educational grants for studying at Qatar universities to citizens of Kazakhstan.
