On May 30, 2020, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a meeting of universitygraduates and teachers as part of the "Graduate Day", which is traditionally held on the lastSaturday of May. This year it was held in a new - on-line - format, which initially caused someconcern: how acceptable it would be, how to avoid technical failures, and whether everyonecould participate. In the end, it turned out that the fears were in vain. Both teachers (even thosewho are aged) and graduates supported the initiative and responded to the invitation. At the sametime, the geography of participants expanded. Not only Almaty residents, but also graduatesworking in other cities of Kazakhstan and abroad were able to congratulate on the meeting andtake communication with each other. The event was attended by representatives of governmentagencies, the academic community, the tourism business, public associations and organizationsof graduations of different years, as well as partner universities, teachers and students.The meeting began with congratulations to the rector of the university, academicianMutanov G.M. and Mami K.A., Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic ofKazakhstan, President of the Alumni Association of KazNU. The video “KazNU: university,looking to the future” was shown to the participants. K.A. Mami, on behalf of the AlumniAssociation, proposed a new project, “Mentoring - Opportunities for Everyone,” aimed atstrengthening and developing social and professional contacts of graduates, designed to helpstudents adapt to the conditions of existing production and modern society.
