FameLab competition

Students of the Faculty of Chemistry and ChemicalTechnology are actively involved into various competitions. So, the 2nd year PhD student of specialty 6D060600-Chemistry Akmaral Rakhym (scientific adviser - Prof. Gulziya A. Seilkhanova) reached the finals of the FameLab competition. From February 5th to February 7th, 2020 the annual Competition "The Best Chemist-Researcher" was held at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology. The ‘RaYAL’ team consisting of: Radmira Shiyanova, Yaroslav Zhigalenok, Alena Starodubtseva won 2nd place prize. Well done! Keep it up!

High Tech Academy school

On 31 January pupils from High Tech Academy visited chair of physical chemistry, catalysis and petrochemistry. The aim of isiting is to introduce pupil with specialty, laboratory and scientific field of our faculty. Yesterday’s history is the part of tomorrow’s success

Senior lecturers of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis, and Petrochemistry, PhD N. J. Kudaibergenov and PhD B. S. Bakirova on January 31, at 13 dormitory, held an educational event on the topic: “Yesterday’s history is the part of tomorrow’s success.” The purpose of the educational event is to familiarize freshmen with the department's past days, illustrating the life of old-timers of the department, which will help to make a breakthrough into a bright future, and interest them for education and science.
The event began with a look at the history of the department, which began in 1936. Further questions and answers continued about the history. Students asked additional questions on the subjects and scientific directions of the department. Tutors provided students with detailed information about the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis, and Petrochemistry.

Presentation of the terminology dictionary

The textbook “Terminological Explanatory Dictionary”, which consists of 40.0 printed pages, was published by the publishing house of our university. The authors of this dictionary are a veteran teacher of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor Ablakirova Ermek Khasenovna and Professor Aubakirov Ermek Aytkazievich.  The presentation of this valuable work was solemnly celebrated at the Academic Council of the faculty, where Professor Ermek Khasenovna described in detail the difference between these dictionaries and previously published ones, and also described the stages of turning the native language into a scientific one.  They also presented the first copies of the dictionary to scientists and specialists of the chemistry and chemical technology, as well as general public and heads of the departments.

Best University Teacher-2019

The results of the republican contest for awarding the title “Best University Teacher-2019” were summed up. The competition was attended by 471 applicants from 81 higher educational institutions of the republic. One of the holders of this honorary title among 200 teachers of the republic is Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry Sassykova Larissa Ravil’evna! Students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the specialties "Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances" and "Chemistry", as well as undergraduates of the specialty "Chemistry" visited the Samal drinking water plant. The company organized a tour of the workshops for water treatment, purification, bottling. Cleanliness, order, an interesting guide, a gift bag for everyone and a free round-trip delivery! Wow!Super! The water is simply wonderful: fresh (the sum of ions is 0.100-0.127 mg / l), soft (total hardness 0.79-1.12 mg-eq), the pH is close to a neutral environment, without color and odor, and most importantly, delicious!

Within the framework of the program "Invitation of foreign scientists and specialists of Ministry of Education and Science of Republic of Kazakhstan" Professor of the University of Western Scotland Mojaba Mirzaeian came to our University to give lectures and conduct joint research. Professor Mojaba Mirzaeian is a scientist in the field of chemical technology and chemical engineering, His research activities focus on the surface phenomena, nanoporous carbon materials for energy storage, hydrogen storage materials, development of electrochemical energy saving technology (particularly supercapacitor and Li/O2 battery); He has authored or co-authored more than 120 publications including peer reviewed articles in scientific journals, (h-index: 14).

3rd year students of the specialty chemical technology of inorganic substances as part of the course "Mineral raw materials of Kazakhstan"visited the Champagne Wine Factory and Cognac Factory (Almaty). The chief technologist of the plant told and showed the main lines and technologies for the production of champagne wines of various brands and cognac from raw materials of Kazakhstan. Students were interested in questions about inorganic substances, sorbents used in this production and received comprehensive answers.
