Online event of an educational nature

"Абай-Дана, Абай-дара қазақта"!

On December 8, 2020, an online educational event "Abai-Dana, Abai-Dara kazakta" was held, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the Great thinker Abai. The organizers were students of 1-4 courses of the specialty СhTOS and Chemistry (СhTOS 402-404, Chemistry 214, Chemistry 101) and teachers of the Department of physical chemistry, catalysis and petrochemistry Cand. Sci., acting associate Professor G.Zh. Zhaksylykova, Cand. Sci., senior Lecturer F.M. Kanapieva, Ph.D., senior Lecturer N.Zh. Kudaibergenov.

Students actively read poems, songs and words of edification of Abai and received spiritual values.

Students of al-Farabi Kazakh national University won the Republican Olympiad in International law, which was held on the basis of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian national University.

The Republican subject Olympiad was organized in an online format. Students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in it.

 Was held a scientific seminar of PhD student Zhang Xuliang, specialty "Petrochemistry". Topic of the scientific seminar "Catalytic conversion of biogas to syngas".

During the “Science Leader - Web of Science Awards-2020” Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was awarded three nominations, confirming its leadership among Kazakhstani HEIs and research institutes in the field of publication activity in high-ranking journalsү.

On November 25, 2020 the solemn ceremony for the “Science Leader - Web of Science Awards-2020” independent award of the international Clarivate Analytics company was hosted online by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Pupils of the 10th grade of school №198 (Turksib district, Almaty) Bermaganbetova Kymbat and Amanbayeva Zhansaya took part in the city round of the competition of scientific works in natural and mathematical disciplines "Daryn". The work was carried out under the guidance of a teacher in chemistry of school No. 198 Tanabayeva Bayan, as well as teachers of the department of physical chemistry, catalysis and petrochemistry of Al-Farabi KazNU Rakhym A.B. and Professor Seilkhanova G.A. The work is devoted to the study of soil ecology using physical and chemical methods.

The event was attended by: rector of the al-Farabi Kazakh national University Galym Mutanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Union of writers of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Bedelkhan, Dean of the faculty of journalism Sagatbek Medeubekuly, Ph. D., Professor Omirkhan Abdimanov, public figures and media representatives.

Al-Farabi KazNU scientists – Habibulla Kussainovich Ospanov, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Head of Department of Physical Chemistry and electrochemistry, and Vladimir Jumakadyrovich Junushaliyev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, professor – were appointed the title of distinguished academicians of the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, academician of the National Academy of Science Republic of Kazakhstan Galym Mutanov congratulated the scientists on reaching this momentous milestone, noting the contribution made to the development of science and university, and emphasized the push they give to students and young scientists to engage in research.

Kazakhstani “Al-Farabi Center” is to be launched in the USA

 The scientific and educational center is to be established in Maryland (USA) by the mutual agreement between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Civilizations Exchange & Cooperation Foundation (CECF).

This will be an important event in the development of cooperation between the United States and Kazakhstan in the year of celebrating the 1150^th anniversary of Al-Farabi, the Great Philosopher of civilizations.

The Center will become a unique international platform for the implementation of joint projects in the field of promoting the golden encyclopedic heritage of the outstanding thinker of humanity Abu Nasr Al-Farabi, whose name the Kazakh National University bears with dignity.

At the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi KazNU at the Teaching Laboratory for Computational Methods in Chemistry the official opening ceremony of the AVEVA Center for Engineering Design of Chemical and Technological Processes, organized jointly with the British company "AVEVA Group plc" took place at 18 November 2020.

The opening ceremony was attended by the first vice-rector of al-Farabi KazNU Professor Burkitbayev Mukhambetkali Myrzabaevich, Vice-President for Strategic Development of AVEVA Products, Mr. Julien de Beer (Paris, France), Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies Tassibekov Khaidar Suleymanovich, as well as heads of departments, laboratories and doctoral students of the faculty.

In November 2020, an open educational hour was held for 2nd-year undergraduates of the specialty «7M05301 Chemistry» under the guidance of Orynbassar R.O. on the topic: "The impact of solid waste on the environment". Undergraduates prepared enlightening presentations and reports by modern interactive methods. During the educational hour, discussions were held on awareness of solid waste, ways to neutralize waste in different countries, and general information on secondary substances extracted from them. In the "Question-answer" section, participants shared additional information on the environmental characteristics in each region of Kazakhstan for solids residues and predicted their effects. As a conclusion of the event, undergraduates answered intellectual questions compiled in the Quizizz program.
