On October 5, 2022 at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the support of the Representative Office of the MFA of the RK in Almaty a round table on "The role of CICA in modern international relations" was held. The large-scale event was held within the framework of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Recall that the idea of confidence-building mechanisms in Asia was first announced in 1992 and since then, CICA has made a significant contribution to the strengthening of the Asian security architecture. Outstanding national diplomats have made a tremendous contribution to the formation and development of CICA. Today, in light of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in CICA, transformation of the Conference into a regional organization is an important issue, and the expert support of CICAICA activities and strengthening of capacities of analytical centers of CICA through their transformation into a standing dialogue platform are considered to be the priority areas of cooperation of member states.  

Participants of the roundtable discussed the problems and prospects for the development of the system of confidence-building measures in the Asian continent under conditions of eroding security mechanisms, trade and sanctions wars, providing constructive negotiations on controversial issues and resolution of differences at the initial stage of their emergence, the need to develop joint systematic approaches to counter-terrorism and mechanisms to prevent threats on the territory of CICA countries, the possibilities to develop additional incentives to give impetus to the economic growth of the states of.

During the opening ceremony of the round table the representative of the UN Global Communications Department in Kazakhstan Vlastimil Samek, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty Jiang Wei, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty Mohsen Fagani, Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty Abror Jahangirovich Fathullaev delivered a congratulatory speech. They stressed the necessity and importance of such dialogue platforms for peaceful solutions to interstate, regional and international problems.

Ravshan Bobokhonzoda, Consul General of the Republic of Tajikistan in Almaty, Amit Kumar Sharma, Consul of the Consulate General of India in Almaty, Asanbekov Jumashbek Omurzakov, Consul of the Consulate General of Kyrgyzstan in Almaty and Shermin Tekin, Vice-Consul of the Republic of Turkey in Almaty participated as guests and active discursors.

In addition, the event brought together renowned experts and representatives of the academic community, Asian country historians. Sultanov Bulat Klychbaevich, Bayzakova Kuralai Irtysovna, Gubaidullina Mara Shaukatovna, Auelbaev Bolat Alimkhanovich, Augan Malik Alshiorazovich, Kurmanguzhin Rustem Salimovich, Batalova Akmaral Valerianovna, Artykbekova Munira Abdykayumovna were among them. 

At the end of the round table a resolution was adopted.
