         On October 22, 2021, a roundtable discussion was held online on the topic: "Kazakhstan's participation in the WTO: first results and prospects", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The roundtable discussion was organized by the Center "WTO and International Trade Law", operating at the Department of International Law, Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

         Over the years of independence, Kazakhstan has achieved great success in the field of trade and economic development of the country. The accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the World Trade Organization in 2015 opened up wide opportunities for international trade cooperation with WTO member states.

         The main purpose of the roundtable discussion is to discuss and analyze the main provisions and results of dissertation research of undergraduates and PhD students in the field of topical issues of international trade law and WTO law.

         Scientific, pedagogical and practical workers, PhD students, undergraduates, students of higher educational institutions were invited to participate in the roundtable discussion.

         The moderators of the roundtable discussion were the director of the Center "WTO and International Trade Law", PhD Z.M. Baimagambetova and PhD student M.N. Nurtai.

         The head of the Department of International Law, PhD, Associate Professor Zh.T. Sairambaeva addressed the participants of the roundtable discussion with a welcoming speech, which emphasized the importance of conducting and discussing scientific research in the light of the implementation of the tasks set by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev in the Strategy "Kazakhstan - 2050" on the development of economic and trade diplomacy for the protection and promotion of national economic and trade interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

       Great interest was aroused by the speech of the invited guest - the General Director of Kazakh Holding LLP D.K. Bazarbekov. He shared his practical experience and noted the need to improve the mechanism for supporting and protecting domestic entrepreneurs affected by the COVID 2019 pandemic and promoting the interests of Kazakhstan as a WTO member in the international arena.

"Struggle with restrictions on intellectual property in the Internet network within the framework of the EEU";

  • Ø  Talgatova Kamila Samatkyzy, master's student of 2nd course

"The effectiveness of the mechanism for resolving disputes between Kazakhstan and the WTO as a member";

  • Ø  Daniyar Yerbolovich Yerbolov, master's student of 2nd course

"Review of the anti-dumping measure in connection with the expiration of the validity period";

"Legal mechanism of payment systems of the Republic of Kazakhstan and China".

 

       Based on the results of the roundtable discussion, proposals and practical recommendations were developed for government agencies, which will be published in scientific publications and protected within the framework of master's and doctoral studies.
