On September 8, 2018 within the actions dated for the City Day of Almaty on the Old Square (nowadays «Square Astana») the book festival «Kіtap Fest» was held. The first such book holiday has taken place in 2014 and has attracted huge interest and desire of continuation from the reading community.

This year there has taken place the fifth book festival which already became intellectual tradition for inhabitants and city visitors. The holiday was opened by dear and recognized masters of a feather: Rope Tasibekov, Aydos Sarym, Oleg Chervinsky.

«Kitap Fest 2018» in Almaty - became the real holiday for all reading people! The situation reigned brisk and easy, in something east, thanks to white tents, the bright sun easy for a breeze. The writers who have published the books in 2017-18 communicated with appreciative and attentive audience, publishers jealously estimated production of the competitors, Meloman bookstores loved by the people, «451 degrees" and «Flip KZ» actively realized the goods - the book, having as we know, the dual nature. Book installations («Book», «Bayterek», «Yurta»), a book bazaar, tents blew the mind, it is proud called Literary, Book Offline, Literary, Library, Book-selling … Organizers of a festival (Bauyrzhan fund, Management of Culture of Almaty) worked accurately and harmoniously.

Publishing houses «Aspandau», «Arouna», «Atamura», «Kazak Entsiklopediyasy», «Kazakparat», «8&8» … have presented the wide range of book novelties. Our university publishing house "Kazak Universitety" favourably differed in subject and a perspective of editions. Stocks «I Suggest to Esteem», «Read-report to Another» «I Have Joined a Public Library!», «We Read, We Study, We Play», creative conversations of «Club of writers», story telling practical work: tell me a story, quest «As the book is born» … have given to all participants true pleasure.

The festival was attended by people of different age: have come as speak, and young and old alike, school and university students were in the majority that pleased and inspired. Our future – in reliable hands!
