Academic activities

The academic activity of the EP is carried out:

- within the framework of existing regulatory documents and methodological recommendations in the field of higher education in the field of literary studies;

- as a result of the implementation of regulatory documents regulating the educational and methodological process at the university;

- generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

- current and long-term planning of the educational and methodological work of the university; coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (EMCD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- monitoring the provision of the educational process with teaching materials, documenting the results;

- development of teaching materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum.

Scientific activity

For implementation of the educational program at faculty there are laboratories of the Zhambyl Zhabaev Center of Research Kazakh Folklore and Literature, Abay Scientific-research Institute at Al-Farabi KazNU.

Scientific schools or scientific directions of the Department:

«6В01701 – Kazakh Language and Literature» training of specialists in the educational program is carried out in the following research areas and schools: 1) theory of literature, which studies fundamental problems of modern science of literature; 2) folklore study, which analyzes works of oral folk creativity; 3) history of literature, which identifies laws and stages of development of Kazakh and world literature; 4) innovative technologies of philological disciplines’ teaching, which studies the development of methods of conducting lectures in the higher school and practical training in the secondary school; 5) literary study and, which expertise artistic works, assesses the significance of the artistic heritage of the past and the present, and identifies the place and the role of the writer in historical-cultural process.

International activities

Under the framework of this programme the department actively cooperates with Humboldt University (Germany); Gazi University (Turkey); Minzu University (China); University of Granada (Spain), University of Toronto (Canada), University of Pech (Hungary), M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia); IRL RAS (Russia).

The program provides scientific training of students in leading universities of Spain, Hungary, Russia.
