Purpose

The program is aimed at the formation of a specialist capable of research and teaching: summarize and interpret modern knowledge, the latest theories in the field of linguistics and literary studies; independently carry out research; integrate knowledge of related scientific fields in the context of their own research; interpret the results of their own research and communicate them to both specialists and non-specialists; build their own program of further study.

Education outcomes

Upon completion of this educational program, graduate students are expected to be able to:

LO1 Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the main stages of the history and philosophy of science in the context of the world and Eurasian historical process. Explain the theoretical and methodological principles, conceptual and terminological apparatus of epistemology, pedagogy, psychology within the framework of modern scientific paradigms. Define the role of philosophy in the general scientific picture of the world. Identify current problems of the education system in general and pedagogical science in particular. Explain the essence and peculiarities of university teacher's activity.

LO 2 Carry out professional pedagogical activity on the basis of psychological and pedagogical knowledge of higher school pedagogy. Critically evaluate methods of organizing the educational process.

LO 3 Carry out scientific research within the framework of modern paradigms of linguistics. Critically evaluate the latest concepts and theories in the field of linguistics. Investigate the facts of language, taking into account integrative processes in the system of scientific knowledge, forming different directions of external linguistics: cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology, text linguistics, Internet linguistics, linguoconflictology, gender linguistics, legal linguistics, etc.

LO 4 Conduct scholarly research within the framework of modern paradigms of literary studies. Critically evaluate the latest concepts and theories in the field of literary studies. Investigate literary facts in the context of the leading strands of literary studies: biographical, comparative, morphological, structural-semantic, gender, cognitive literary studies, and receptive criticism.

LO 5 Build new knowledge on the basis of principles, laws and categories of philosophy of science, psychology and pedagogy in the process of solving educational, professional and research problems. Be fluent in Russian and a foreign language as a means of professional communication.

LO 6 Develop a program of own scientific research in the field of language and literature. Plan a comprehensive scientific research. Interpret the basic principles of scientific research methodology and apply them in the development of teaching and research projects. To format the results of scientific research in the form of scientific reports, analytical reviews, abstracts, review abstracts, scientific articles, etc.

LO 7 Use the methodology of research of language and speech material in the context of different areas of modern linguistics. Use the latest methods and techniques of analyzing linguistic facts in research activities: content analysis, logic and semantic modeling, transformational analysis, statistical analysis, psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic methods of analysis. Use experimental methods to analyze linguistic processes in different spheres of society within the framework of a particular scientific direction. Effectively use information and communication technologies.

LO 8 Formulate the problems and tasks of literary research, choose an appropriate methodology, determine the stages of research, evaluate and interpret the results. Critically evaluate existing methods of analysis in relation to the study of literary works. Use the latest methods and techniques of analyzing a fiction text: intra-textual (immanent) and contextual analysis; biographical, psychological, psychoanalytic, archetypal, phenomenological; formal, structural; cultural-historical, comparative, comparative-historical, sociological, mythopoetic, motive, intertextual; hermeneutic.

LO 9 Demonstrate independence and original approach in solving scientific problems, taking into account principles of philosophy of science. Construct new scientific facts in pedagogy, psychology in the context of humanitarian knowledge.

LO 10 Generate new knowledge in the field of linguistics. Find technological solutions to linguistic problems in new and unfamiliar contexts. Integrate interdisciplinary knowledge into the research process on linguistic problems in order to describe and analyze current research approaches.

LO 11 Generate new knowledge in the field of literary studies. Find technological solutions to literary science problems in new and unfamiliar contexts. Integrate interdisciplinary knowledge into the research process on literary problems in order to describe and analyze current research approaches.

LO 12 Be prepared to interact appropriately and tolerantly in society, and to engage in social interaction and collaboration to address current issues in linguistics and literary studies. To adjust the form and tactics of speech behavior in accordance with the interests, level of preparedness and mood of the addressee, to find the most effective methods of speech interaction.

Academic activities

Academic activities of the EP are carried out:

- within the framework of existing normative documents and methodological recommendations in the sphere of higher education in the humanities,

- as a result of the implementation of normative documents regulating the educational and methodological process in the university;

- generalization and dissemination of new normative and legal acts related to methodical work;

- The current and perspective planning of the University educational-methodical work, the coordination of the educational-methodical complex of discipline (EMCD) of the department for the conformity to the normative-legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- Monitoring of the provision of the educational process with the didactic-methodic materials, documenting of the results;

- development of educational-methodical materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum;

-academic policy and university integrity rules.

To prepare qualified specialists in Russian language and literature 11 doctors of sciences and 30 candidates of sciences are working.

Scientific activities

For the development of students in the department there are clubs and clubs. Club "Akkaiyn" and Ethnoclub "Russian world". Since 2008, there are 5 joint double degree programs (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD) in the department: "Russian philology", "Russian language and literature". Training is carried out jointly with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Moscow, Russia).

 

Scientific schools or scientific directions of the department, (research projects): to implement the educational program at the department there are laboratories: at the department successfully operates GLOSSA center, engaged in teaching Russian language to foreign citizens; teaching Russian as a second language; conducting linguistic expertise, reviewing scientific papers; development of scientific and methodological documentation of science and education in the formation of a research university.

 

International activities

Contacts have been established with the following universities for educational programs: PFUR (Russia), St. Petersburg State University (Russia), Mevlana (Turkey), KazNPU named after Abay.

According to the results of the rating of educational programs among higher educational institutions of RK since 2017 the educational programs of our department "Philology" (Master's and Doctoral studies) and "Russian language and literature" (Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral studies) take 1st place according to the rating of the Independent Agency of Accreditation and Rating (IAAR). The Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IAQA) awarded the specialty "Russian language and literature" 1st place for the Master's degree and 2nd place for the Bachelor's degree.

 

Graduate students have research internships at the A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty), the M.O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty). The pedagogical practice of undergraduates is carried out on the basis of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

 

Training in the field of professional activity includes the following types of activities, professions, qualification levels:

- research activities (junior researcher of a research institute);

- experimental development in the field of social sciences and humanities (researcher);

- teaching activity (university teacher in the system of higher education);

- other types of education, not included in other categories (teacher of Russian language and literature in school, college, etc.);

- auxiliary educational services (specialist in general secondary, specialized secondary, higher education, consultant in educational services).
