Providing the system of quality training of competitive specialists in the field of philological education, possessing deep knowledge and capable of research activities in the following fields: scientific and theoretical linguistics, literature studies, scientific and methodical on modern educational concepts and teaching technologies.

Education outcomes

Upon completion of this educational program, students are expected to be able to do so:

1. To demonstrate deep knowledge about the current state and trends of scientific knowledge in the field of linguistics, literature and methodology of professional education;
2. Describe the content of the latest scientific theories, determine their research potential in the system of modern paradigms of scientific knowledge in the fields of linguistics, literature and methodology of educational activity;
3. critically evaluate and interpret the latest developments in linguistics and literary criticism, using them in the work on the selected topic of the thesis research;
4. Use fundamental philological knowledge and methods of philological analysis to creatively solve problem problems and situations in education, science and other social practices;
5. apply innovative technologies in the field of teaching Russian language and literature;
6. To estimate and generalize the information on the basic tendencies of development of scientific concepts and schools in the field of modern Russian and Kazakhstani linguistics and literary criticism;
7. to use modern scientific methods in the organization of independent scientific and scientific-methodical researches, to interpret the obtained results and give them an objective assessment;
8. Generate new knowledge, solve new tasks of professional activity in an original and creative way;
9. to integrate the main theoretical positions and key ideas of scientific directions and schools in linguistics and literary criticism into the process of practical activity;
10. argumentatively and correctly, clearly and consistently defend their own scientific position in situations of scientific and organizational communication;

to carry out communication on the topic and results of dissertation research in scientific discussion, etc.

Academic activities

Academic activities of the EP are carried out:

- within the framework of existing normative documents and methodological recommendations in the sphere of higher education in the humanities,

- as a result of the implementation of normative documents regulating the educational and methodological process in the university;

- generalization and dissemination of new normative and legal acts related to methodical work;

- The current and perspective planning of the University educational-methodical work, the coordination of the educational-methodical complex of discipline (EMCD) of the department for the conformity to the normative-legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- Monitoring of the provision of the educational process with the didactic-methodic materials, documenting of the results;

- development of educational-methodical materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum;

-academic policy and university integrity rules.

To prepare qualified specialists in Russian language and literature 11 doctors of sciences and 30 candidates of sciences are working.

Scientific activities

For the development of students in the department there are clubs and clubs. Club "Akkaiyn" and Ethnoclub "Russian world". Since 2008, there are 5 joint double degree programs (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD) in the department: "Russian philology", "Russian language and literature". Training is carried out jointly with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Moscow, Russia).

Scientific schools or scientific directions of the department, (research projects): to implement the educational program at the department there are laboratories: at the department successfully operates GLOSSA center, engaged in teaching Russian language to foreign citizens; teaching Russian as a second language; conducting linguistic expertise, reviewing scientific papers; development of scientific and methodological documentation of science and education in the formation of a research university.

International activities

Contacts have been established with the following universities for educational programs: PFUR (Russia), St. Petersburg State University (Russia), Mevlana (Turkey), KazNPU named after Abay.

According to the results of the rating of educational programs among higher educational institutions of RK since 2017 the educational programs of our department "Philology" (Master's and Doctoral studies) and "Russian language and literature" (Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral studies) take 1st place according to the rating of the Independent Agency of Accreditation and Rating (IAAR). The Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IAQA) awarded the specialty "Russian language and literature" 1st place for the Master's degree and 2nd place for the Bachelor's degree.

Graduate students have research internships at the A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty), the M.O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty). The pedagogical practice of undergraduates is carried out on the basis of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The objects of professional activity of the master of pedagogical sciences in the specialty "Russian language and literature" are:

- organizations of secondary education of all types and kinds, regardless of ownership and departmental subordination;

- organizations of technical and professional education.

- Scientific-research institutes;

- Institutes of professional development and retraining of employees in the education system;  

- authorized and local executive bodies in education sphere.
