The purpose of the educational program is high-quality training of professional personnel with attitudes and values ​​that meet the current requirements of the local and global labor market, with in-depth skills in the use of IT in the economy, capable of solving problems in the development of the digital economy, e-business and commerce using digital resources.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this educational program, students are expected to be able to:

1) to organize the infrastructure for the digital transformation of an enterprise (organization) by embedding its links into the global network of value added chains, analyzing and determining the degree of their impact on the macro- and microeconomic indicators of the country, taking into account the cyclical nature, globalization and digitalization of business processes;

2) to use innovative technologies for the strategic management of business processes of enterprises (organizations) and building a new format for their activities in the digital economy and in foreign trade, using forms and systems of e-commerce, payment systems and electronic transactions when conducting international business in the EAEU space and in the world economy;

3) to analyze the role of e-government in the digital economy, assessing the effectiveness of information and communication technologies in the sectors of its interaction with the population and business: "state-citizens" (G2C), "state-business" (G2B), identifying innovative solutions to improve the quality of life of citizens and business development in the country;

4) to model new tasks for the distribution and use of resources / processes and risks in an enterprise (organization), using programming languages ​​and methods, new types of ICT and systems in the economy, analyzing trends in the development of "end-to-end" digital technologies (big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence , quantum and new production technologies, industrial Internet, etc.);

5) to draw up economic plans and budgets, carrying out financial and economic calculations for enterprises (organizations) in the virtual sphere, assessing risks and changes in business processes using business analytics tools based on data from economic, financial, accounting statements;

6) to apply digital tools in accounting and auditing, in finance and marketing, blockchain technologies in logistics and e-commerce, assessing and analyzing their implications for the activities of an enterprise (organization) in a real and virtual environment, identifying new ways of using them to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the business -processes;

7) to make analytical reviews (reports) for enterprises (organizations) based on the study of models of international venture financing and innovative (R&D) business, identifying, analyzing, classifying risks and threats in the digital environment and developing a set of measures to minimize them, proposing new solutions for digital innovative development of the industry, region and national economy in general;

8) to develop business plans and smart contracts for enterprises (organizations) based on marketing research of new markets and sectors of the economy for the development of e-commerce, defining effective B2C sales channels, creating e-shops with websites and mobile applications using HTML / CSS, Javascript, Python, etc., evaluating and analyzing their effectiveness and competitiveness;

9) to simulate the development of the digital economy, taking into account its technological, behavioral, institutional and legal features, using econometric, micro- and macroeconomic models, making analytical forecasts of the prospects for its development for the economy of Kazakhstan on the basis of modeling;

10) to make proposals for improving existing methods, technologies, sales channels and increasing the efficiency of production or business using digital tools and software products, working with big data, using innovative software products focused on solving scientific, design and technological problems in the economy,

11) to develop new models for the development of the national cryptocurrency, financial and payment systems, services and business processes in the digital environment, analyzing, comparing current trends and features of the development of the global cryptocurrency market and the ICO market based on the foreign experience of their state regulation;

12) to develop personal and leadership skills, systematic applied thinking, effectively working in a team, solving standard tasks of professional activity on the basis of business communication, information culture, using various methods and sources of information and business analytics tools to solve professional problems.

- Academic activities

Academic activities in the educational program are regulated by the Academic Policy of Al-Farabi KazNU and are implemented within the framework of existing regulatory documents and guidelines in the field of higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The educational program assumes to ensure the unity of the educational and research process, compiled in accordance with the requirements of foreign universities and professional standards of NCE "Atameken", built on a modular principle based on a competence-based approach.

The main objective of the program is to develop students' skills in economic analysis and problem solving in the digital economy.

Throughout the entire period of study, students study a complex of compulsory general and basic disciplines, which make it possible to form the basic cognitive and functional competencies of future bachelors, at the same time, a cycle of major disciplines and a wide selection of elective disciplines in the educational program contribute to the formation of deep functional and systemic competencies.

 

- Scientific activity

Students have opportunity to participate in student scientific section of the Department of Economics, such as "Economist of the XXI century", "Innovative Economy", as well as annually participate in the international conference for students and young scientists "Al-Farabi Alemi" in the framework of the international Farabi Readings. In the senior years, students will participate in the international patriotic forum "Men zhastarga senemin!", where they can present innovative projects.

All these activities help to start scientific and research activities in the early courses, which makes it possible for the graduation course to decide on the topic of diploma theses, which is developed taking into account the main scientific directions of the Department of Economics.

To date, the teaching staff of the department is implementing the following research projects:

1) a project within the framework of grant financing of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Creative industries: methodological aspects of classification and quantitative measurements in the Republic of Kazakhstan" (2020-2023). Scientific adviser: PhD, ass. professor Zhuparova A.S.

2) a project within the framework of grant financing of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan "The independence of the central bank and the achievement of the inflation target" (2021-2022). Scientific adviser: Doctor of Economics, Professor Mukhamediyev B.M.

3) a project within the framework of grant financing of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Private capital market in Kazakhstan, prospects for its development" (2021-2022). Scientific adviser: PhD, art. teacher Rakhmatullayeva D.Zh.

The student has the opportunity to offer his own areas of research in the field of fundamental and applied issues of economics.

 

- International activity

The educational program provides students with opportunities to study at foreign universities within the framework of academic mobility under ERASMUS+ programs for a semester, as well as a promising opportunity to study under double-diploma programs and joint educational programs of partner universities upon admission to a master's program:

- RUDN (Russia),

- University of Padua (Italy),

- University of Finance and Administration (Czech Republic),

- Bialystok University of Technology (Poland)

 

- Quality assurance (Accreditation, rating, work with employers)

The new educational program "Digital Economics" was introduced in 2021 and has not yet participated in accreditation. Accreditation of the educational program is assumed after the first graduation of bachelor students. The educational program plans to participate in the ratings of IAAR and NCE Atameken from 2022.

The Department of Economics has a wide geography of practice bases in the context of cities and regions of Kazakhstan, as well as abroad for foreign students. Mainly, these are institutions and organizations of the state and quasi-public sectors (regional departments of economics and finance, departments of state revenue, departments of entrepreneurship, treasury departments, etc.), small and large enterprises and private sector firms, commercial banks, joint ventures and branches of foreign companies on the territory of the republic.

To date, work is underway to conclude a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Higher School of Economics and Business and the Department of Digitalization of the city of Almaty. The memorandum will allow students to undergo internships and professional practices on the basis of this institution and facilitate the employment of future graduates.

"Digital economics" refers to new specializations and are relevant at accelerated transformation of the digital economy in the country and the world. Graduates will be in demand in the local and global labor markets, according to forecasts of the development of the world economy and the global labor market in the next five years. Diplomas of completion of the EP give an advantage in the labor market over those who graduated from narrow-profile specialties. In addition, bachelors can continue their studies in a master's degree.
