The Department of recreational geography and tourism (until 2011 – the Department of tourism) was founded in 1996 by Stanislav Ramazanovich, doctor of geographical Sciences, Professor Yerdavletov, who headed it from the moment of its Foundation until 2009. From 2009 to 2020, the Department was headed by PhD, honored instructor of tourism of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. M. Artemyev. Since 2020, the Department is headed by Cand. geogr. Sciences, associate Professor A. S. Aktymbaeva. Since its Foundation, the Department of recreational geography and tourism has been training qualified personnel with higher education for the tourism system of Kazakhstan. The formation and development of the Department is determined by its managers and staff.
On December 1, 2020, at 16.00, 4th year students held the Department's Birthday party in an online format. Students perfectly organized the event, showed their talents, prepared video greetings and contests.
