The authoritative rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published the results of the annual ranking of higher educational institutions QS World University Rankings 2021. The rating includes 10 universities in Kazakhstan. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took 165th place and showed the best results. The university has improved its performance since 2015, and this year it has climbed 42 positions per year for the first time in rankings and entered the top 200 universities in the world. According to the official representative of the university, Dauren Duysebaev, in the post-Soviet space, the group included only two universities - Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In nine years, the university has climbed 500 positions, showing unprecedented dynamics in the history of higher education in the world. Such a short-term improvement in world rankings attracted the attention of foreign experts, who called it a breakthrough “phenomenon”. This is actively discussed in the international academic community as a vivid example of the rapid development of the university, and representatives of many foreign universities are gaining positive experience from KazNU.
 The QS World University Rankings include thousands of the best universities in the world. The ranking took into account six indicators: academic reputation, reputation among employers, citation index, student-to-faculty ratio, proportion of foreign employees, and proportion of foreign students. Under the leadership of Mutanov Galymkair Mutanovich, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Full Member of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a team of the best specialists worked actively to introduce new approaches and achieve high results. The rating emphasizes the complex structural modernization of KazNU, which contributes to the transition to a new level of education and science. In addition, dual degree programs and English language programs are offered by leading foreign universities. Thanks to this program, the number of foreign students has increased 15 times over the past year. In addition, scientific and educational centers have been opened at the university, as a result of which the number of research projects has increased more than 2.5 times.
 The high level of the Kazakh National University in the world educational and scientific space has been confirmed by other international rating agencies. KazNU is among the 200 most environmentally friendly universities in the world and is among the 50 most technologically advanced universities. Having received a high rating "AA +" from the European Scientific and Industrial Chamber, Kazakhstan University is one of the leading universities in Europe.
 Thus, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has successfully completed the task set by President Nursultan Nazarbayev, included in the State Program for the Development of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, to include at least two Kazakhstani universities in the top 200 universities in the world by 2020. confirmed compliance with a high level of throughput space.
