From December 4 to December 26, 2023, Dr. Mohanraj Murugesan, a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology in India, will be delivering lectures on the topic "Different Applications of Compression Heat Pumps". This invitation comes at the request of Acting Professor Yerzhan Belyayev from the Department of Mechanics.

Dr. Yerzhan Belyayev, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanics at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has emerged victorious in the esteemed "Best Researcher 2023" competition, as declared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the period of teaching practice, 1st year doctoral students of the Department of Mechanics A.Abekova, Zh.Aituganova and B.Merkibaeva, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), conducted an educational lesson on the topic “We are against tobacco.”

The Abay-Verne scholarship program is a joint program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of France. According to the results of the meeting of the French-Kazakh Joint Commission, 30 candidates were approved to study in France as part of the master's program. We are happy to inform you that 7 of those winners are graduate students of the "Mechanics" department of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Al-Farabi KazNU.

From October 7th to 10th, international robotics competitions took place in Singapore, with representatives from 191 countries participating. The team from Kazakhstan, under the leadership of Dosmagambet Nurdaulet, a PhD student of the Department of Mechanics and an active member of the RoboMech scientific and educational center, as well as one of the founders of the USTEM FOUNDATION (Public Foundation for Engineering Development in Kazakhstan and Central Asia), emerged as the overall winner.

Acting Professor of the Department of Mechanics, project PI, leading researcher Yerzhan Belyayev, project AP14872287 on the topic “Study of Cascade Solar Thermal Energy Storage Efficiency Using Phase Change Materials in Continental Climate”, from October 1 to October 8, 2023, participated in the annual international conference on Themophysics 2023 (http://thermophysics.fch.vut.cz/2023/index.php) in Dalesice, Czech Republic.

Seventeen participants from 14 countries attended the course, which took place from July 17 to September 1 and consisted of three stages. The first stage was conducted online from July 17 to August 20. The practical part of the training was held at Nihon University (Japan) from August 21 to August 30. At the third stage, participants delivered lectures and conducted laboratory sessions on nanosatellite design and subsystems for employees of Japanese companies such as ArkEdge Space, IHI Aerospace, IHI Corporation, INAMI Space Laboratory, Japan Manned Space Systems Corporation, NEC Corporation, Hatta Yamamoto Propulsion Engineering and Research.  

In accordance with the order of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University dated June 30, 2023, No. 367, D.Sc., Professor Muratulla Umaraliyevich Utenov was awarded the medal of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University "EREN ENBEGI USHIN" on the occasion of his 70th anniversary for his contribution to the university's development.

According to the order of the rector dated July 11, 2023, No. 392, Zhanylkul Kiyashovna Turarova, the leading specialist of the Department of Mechanics, was awarded the medal of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University "EREN ENBEGI USHIN" on the occasion of her 60th anniversary for her contribution to the university's development.

In accordance with the order of the rector dated October 20, 2022, No. 536, Professor Zaurе Bayanova Rakisheva was awarded the medal of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University "EREN ENBEGI USHIN" for her contribution to the development of the university.
