Dr. Yerzhan Belyayev, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanics at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has emerged victorious in the esteemed "Best Researcher 2023" competition, as declared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This annual competition recognizes the outstanding contributions of 50 Kazakhstani scientists across various fields, and Dr. Belyayev has been honored in the "Natural Sciences" category. Each laureate, including Dr. Belyayev, will be awarded a certificate and a gift of 2000 MCI.

The competition, governed by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Science," is designed to support and commend scientists who have significantly advanced the realms of science and technology. A total of 307 applications were submitted to the competition in 7 directions: "Natural Sciences", "Engineering and Technologies", "Medicine and Healthcare", "Social Sciences", "Humanities and Arts", "Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences" and "Military Sciences and National Security”. The main criteria for evaluating scientific achievements are the presence of a scientific degree and scientific title, the presence of articles written jointly with leading foreign scientists, in particular in Scopus journals, in prestigious international and Kazakh peer-reviewed journals in the selected scientific field, as well as the training of personnel who have a Ph.D. degree in the relevant field.

Dr. Belyayev's achievements, including his leadership in the scientific project "Study of Cascade Solar Thermal Energy Storage Efficiency Using Phase Change Materials in Continental Climate," underscore his commitment to groundbreaking research. Additionally, he collaborates with Yessenov University and actively contributes to the "Development of a solar-heat desalination plant based on a heat pump" project.
