10/11/2019. 14 student teams took part in the #Erasmus Day student business ideas competition organized by the Almaty University of Energy and Communications (AUES). The start-up team of the FLYUP Group company of the Department of Mechanics of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in it with the «SMART TABLE» project and took second place.
The KazNU team participated in the 2019 Silk Road Robotics Innovation Competition (SRRIC) of Xi'an, China and was awarded the Competition Diploma.
For this competition, the team of KazNU, under the leadership of Professor J. Baigunchchekova, presented the project "Robot Humanoid Ai-Gerim".
Developed by teachers (B. Amanov and B. Sagitzhanov) and students (Azil Zamanbek and Rakhymzhan Zangar) of the Department of Mechanics, the Humanoid Robot is social, performs a number of functions that help people with physical disabilities in their employment. Features of the “Ai-Gerim” robot are simplicity of design, low cost and controllability at a distance with a human operator with limited physical abilities using Wi-Fi connection.
From 17 to 21 of September, the al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the QS World Wide Forum on the theme «Journey to Global Prominence: Harmony of Human Heritage and Advanced Technology». This forum is a unique and it is the world’s largest platform for the exchange and dissemination of best practices in the field of science and higher education. As part of this forum, scientists from Universiti Technologi PETRONAS of (Malaysia), headed by Professor Hanita Daud, visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, exchanged information in the field of education and science.
Master student of the Department of Mechanics of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Al-Farabi KazNU Zarina Turtayeva is a laureate of the Abai-Vern scholarship program for doctoral students.
The committee of the Abai-Vern scholarship program approved 90 candidates for the Master's program and 10 for the Doctorat program.
The winners of the doctoral program will receive a monthly scholarship in the amount of € 1,200, and they will be given free tuition for 36 months, exempted from paying the registration fee at state higher educational institutions, free long-term student visa and priority when allocating housing in a university dormitory.
