Japanese Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan has accomplished a generous mission of providing a gift from Masaaki Akaike, member of House of Councillor of Japan, 12th manga volume of “Bride’s story” to the students of East Asian studies department in faculty of Oriental studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
On October 7, 2020, the celebration of the traditional Korean holiday “Cheosok” was held on the ZOOM online platform under the guidance of advisers Zhansaya Toktarova and Elina Kim. 1st year students of the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East took part there.

On 26 September, will be held leadership lecture with our graduate Zarina Badavamova, who currently is working in Tokyo (Japan) at ecological fund. The topic: essential skills for japanese studies specialist.
On September 18, 2020, the annual event "Dedication to Students" was held for the first year students of the Department of Japanese Studies. This event is traditionally held at the university, but this academic year, due to the pandemic, the meeting was organized in the Zoom application. The event was attended by professors, teachers and 1-4 year students of the Department of Japanese Studies. The organizers and hosts of the event were 3rd year students. 2-4 year students prepared original music and video performances and congratulatory speeches. Thus, the students of senior courses got acquainted with first-year students. The meeting took place in a very friendly and informative atmosphere. At the meeting, the freshmen had the opportunity to communicate with teachers and senior students, learn more about their future profession, and senior students shared their experience and advice. Thanks to the online meeting, the students of the department were able to meet and wish each other success in the new academic year.
On September 17, the Department of the Far East of Al-Farabi KazNU held online meeting for 1st year master students of the Korean and Japanese departments. The educational process at the university is carried out using e-learning and distance educational technologies, contact work of students and teachers is organized in the electronic information and educational environment of the university, as in many other universities in Kazakhstan.
On September 11, 2020, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi KazNU an annual event “Meeting between Sonbe and Hube” (meeting-acquaintance of students of the Department of Korean Studies) was held for students of the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East. In the event was attended by all students of the department, graduates of The Department of the Far East, who work abroad (LG company, Poland), alumni who studying under the GKS grant program in South Korea, graduates of the Double Master Degree Program, and students from South Korean universities.
On September 10, 2020, a Leadership lecture was held on the topic "5 tips from a graduate of KazNU" on the ZOOM online platform under the guidance of advisers Zhansaya Toktarova and Elina Kim. 1st year students took part in it and the speaker was Kairakhmetov Rustam, a graduate of 2018, the Department of Korean Studies of the Faculty of the Far East. Rustam works in Moscow at Samsung Electronics as a leading specialist in the engineering and technology department.
On September 10 at 16:00, the first event for the 1st year students of the Department of Korean Studies, the Department of the Far East, will take place through ZOOM.
