The students studied soil samples in various zones: in the school yard, in the park, near the road. Experiments were carried out to determine the pH of the samples, the content of heavy metals, phosphorus and nitrogen. The results showed the unsatisfactory condition of the soils in the study area, which indicates the pollution of the city's ecology due to anthropogenic impact. During a pandemic, the study of ecology is especially relevant, because environmental pollution affects human immunity and resistance to various pathogens of infectious diseases. Conducting scientific work by schoolchildren of this kind helps to foster awareness and respect for nature in the younger generation, and university teachers are always happy to help and share their experience.
