Teachers of the Department of Science and Technology actively apply new approaches to education and educational technologies in their classes. So, 3-year students of the specialty Chemistry (Education) were asked to: really assess their competence in the subject “Chemical Industry of Kazakhstan” on a 10-point scale; what needs to be done to improve your performance; what prevents to improve their performance and other issues. A lively and honest discussion made it possible to identify gaps in knowledge, skills, and also to make a decision for students to better prepare for classes.

A student of department of physical chemistry, catalysis and petrochemistry, Usenov Nurlan studied in the framework of the "National Scholarship Program of Slovakia" in Slovak University of technology in Bratislava,Slovakia. The training lasted 5 months. His main area of study is gas and oil technology. The amount of scholarships per month is 350 euros (150,000 tenge). He got a great impression and a great life experience. We exchanged knowledge with students from other countries. He thinks that the acquired knowledge in the future will contribute to becoming a professional specialist in the field of chemistry.

At the chemical and chemical technology faculty took place methodical seminar was organized Ulmeken Toleshova. During the seminar the types of organization individual student work as «Mind map», «И.Д.Е.А.Л» which helps right access, organize, were discussed.

In the framework of the program “100 books” 13.02.2020 curators advisers of the department of chemical physics and materials science and they students visited the theater of the Young Spectator named by Gabit Musrepov. They watched the play by American Albert Gurney "Love letters" ("Love letters"). "Love letters" is an elegantly composed story of discrepancies, a compendium of two fates that were not given to unite.

On February 27, 2020, students of Almaty schools were invited to the faculty of chemistry and chemical technology and met with teachers of the Department of chemical physics and materials science. During the meeting, students got acquainted with the laboratories and showed interest in the scientific activities of the Department's teachers.

Students of the Chemistry and Chemical Technology Faculty always lead an active social life. At the beginning of 2019, al-Farabi KazNU has joined the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Throughout the year, SPE member students participated in all activities.
