Curators-advisors of educational groups together with the heads of the clubs for educational work "Kazakh Studies" and "Sayakhat" of the Department of Language and General Education training of foreigners held another online event "Cities of Kazakhstan". The topic speaks for itself: foreign students have expanded their knowledge of our country. In the year of the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a number of similar events are planned.

The heads of the educational clubs of local lore "Sayakhat" and "Kazakh Studies" of the Department of Language and General Education training of foreigners held a round table "State symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan" for advanced students studying the Russian language. Special attention of foreign students was drawn to the fact that 2021 is the year of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Events on such topics allow students to form an idea of our country as a young independent state and rich in history.

Teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners traditionally conduct educational events, which are aimed at familiarizing students with the history and culture of the country. In the year of the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, such events are of particular importance. Curators-advisors together with the heads of clubs for educational work held a round table of the faculty level "Uly Adamdar Olkesi" ("The land of great people») with students studying the Kazakh language. During the presentation, the mentors told about the great people who made an invaluable contribution to the culture, science, and the formation of Kazakhstan as an independent state. Students with great interest learned the names that the people of Kazakhstan are proud of, and also shared their knowledge on the topic.

Curators-advisors of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners conducted the introductory curatorial hours at the beginning of the 2nd semester. At these events, the teachers introduced the students to the work plan for the 2nd semester, drew attention to the deadlines for passing the midterm сontrol and the summer examination session. The mentors reminded the students about the need to observe academic discipline, and also answered all the questions of the audience.

The club for educational work "Let's go to the cinema!" of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners held its next meeting, dedicated to the work of the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren. Well-known works addressed to children and youth were considered. Given the specifics of the audience (foreign students), the language of the works was easy to understand. During the event, the audience was presented with the cartoon "Carlson is Back".

The curators-advisors of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners continued their planned educational activities in the second semester. The next curatorial hour was devoted to the topic "Our interests and hobbies". The students were very happy to talk about their hobbies and how they spend their free time. I would like to note that today's youth is fond of various sports and enthusiastically engaged in physical education.

The "Club of Lovers of Russian Literature" of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners continued its work in the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Foreign students at the regular online event got acquainted with Russian proverbs and sayings. In the classroom, students receive information about the national culture of the Russian people. Russian proverbs and sayings study helps foreign students in the process of mastering the Russian language at its various stages. The goal of the teacher of Russian as a foreign language is to introduce proverbs and sayings into the active vocabulary of the student, using them in the process of communication.

On the eve of the spring semester, on January 21, 2021, in connection with the beginning of the traditional format of studying students of the 1st year of аl-Farabi Kazakh National University, the head of the Department for Educational Work, Zh.Yessimova, held a School of curators-advisors. During the event, topical issues related to the organization of the educational process in the light of compliance with the requirements of sanitary standards to prevent coronavirus infection of students and teachers were touched upon. Zh.Yessimov answered the questions of the audience. The school was held in a constructive manner.

For 11 years, during the winter holidays, the Department of Educational Work of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has been conducting a School of curators-advisors. This year, this event was held on January, 20 in a virtual format. Curators-advisors of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners traditionally take an active part in the work of the School. It seems that the knowledge gained by the advisors, as well as the experience that the students of the School share with each other are necessary for the mentoring activities of teachers.

On January 12, 2021, teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners at their regular meeting discussed the article of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev "Independence above all". Teachers of the department R.Duyssenbayeva and A.Aidarova prepared reports in Kazakh and Russian, focusing on the key points of the speech of the Head of State and quoting the author. In conclusion, the discussion noted that the staff of the department unanimously supports all the theses formulated by the President of the country.
