Traditionally, at the beginning of December, an open Day is held at the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners as part of the "Festival of Languages and Cultures". This is an educational event of international level. This year the event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and was held in an online format. In addition to students and teachers of the Department, the Open Day was attended by official guests: Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Yerkezhan Apsemetova, Director of the Internationalization and Recruiting Council of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Arslan Mehmet, Consul of Science, Technology and Education of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty Zhang Wei, representative of the Japanese University of Tsukuba, (Tsukuba) Takeshi Ninomiya. A friendly warm greeting was received in Kazakh from a student of the Moscow Linguistic University. The students currently teaching at the department demonstrated their talents by reading poems and singing songs.

Фестиваль «Великие подвижники земли русской» в Казахстане

С 2 ноября по 10 декабря 2021 года в школах и университетах Казахстана прошел Фестиваль «Великие подвижники земли русской». Фестиваль был организован ТГУ имени Г.Р. Державина (Российская Федерация) в рамках проекта «Через язык к истокам русской души», поддержанного Министерством просвещения РФ.

В рамках международного сотрудничества между КазНУ им. аль-Фараби факультета довузовского образования кафедры языковой и общеобразовательной подготовки студентов -иностранцев и ТГУ им. Г.Р. Державина завкафедрой Саденова А.Е., доценты Даркембаева Р.Д., Озекбаева Н.А. со студентами-иностранцами групп ПГ-8 Ли Сье, Ван Цифей, Ербол Динар, Фуркан Мустафа, ПГ -4 Нуретдин Азамат, Ахмади Басира приняли онлайн участие в международном фестивале «Великие подвижники земли русской» в Казахстане.

Участниками Фестиваля стали более 400 студентов и школьников из 13 стран, в том числе дети и молодежь Казахстана участвовали в творческих и интеллектуальных конкурсах. Фестиваль проводился в два этапа. Первый этап прошел в онлайн- формате с 2 по 21 ноября 2021 года. Второй этап был проведен в смешанном формате (очно-дистанционном) с 7 по 10 декабря 2021 года. Школьники и студенты из Казахстана познакомились с русской литературой и культурой. Завершился Фестиваль 10 декабря 2021 года Гала-концертом. Участники приобрели новые знания и компетенции. Выражаем благодарность нашим партнерам в Российской Федерации – Державинскому университету – за сотрудничество и активную позицию в деле поддержания интереса к изучению и повышению уровня знания русского языка, укрепления связей между казахским и русским народом, казахской и русской культурой.

The Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-University Education of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held an international scientific and methodological seminar "The Kazakh language in the modern world", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was held on November 12, 2021 in an online format.

The following issues were discussed during the seminar:

1. Modern pedagogical technologies and innovations in teaching Kazakh as a foreign language.

2. Distance learning of the Kazakh language as a foreign language is an innovative form of organizing the educational process.

3. Structure and content of aspect disciplines in teaching the Kazakh language to foreign students.

4. Methodological manuals and textbooks in the direction of teaching Kazakh as a foreign language.

The Kazakh teachers of higher educational institutions, and also the colleagues teaching abroad Kazakh as foreign or second language participated in this action. In particular, linguists from the Moscow State Linguistic University, Kyrgyz National University named after Zh.Balasagyn, University of Tsukuba (Japan), Kyrgyz-Turkish University "Manas" (Bishkek), Institute for the Study of the Turkic World. (Izmir, Turkey). And also the head of the Center for the development of languages and the transition to the Latin script of the Akim's Office of Almaty Kalymbet B.A., Director of the Department of International Cooperation of al-Farabi KazNU Apsemetova E.A., head of the methodical work service Amirbekova G.E.

The Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-University Education of аl-Farabi Kazakh National University has planned a number of events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. One of them was the International Scientific and Methodological Seminar "Traditions and innovations in modern methods of teaching disciplines to foreign audiences", held in the online format on the Zoom platform.

The online seminar was attended by the heads of аl-Farabi Kazakh National University and universities of the People's Republic of China, as well as scientists-about 50 linguists, methodologists and teachers in total

This seminar became a discussion platform on topical issues of teaching Kazakh and Russian as foreign languages. The main topic of discussion was the problem of improving the methods of teaching Kazakh and Russian as foreign languages, the presentation of various technologies of teaching the language at the international level, the exchange of best practices, and the discussion of modern approaches in the field of teaching a second language.

The event was attended by Director of the Department of International Cooperation of аl-Farabi Kazakh National University A.Smailova, Consul for Science and Technology of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty Mi Guixiong, Head of the methodological work Service of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University G.Zhakypova, Executive Director of the Center for the Development of Global Competencies of Tsinghua University Yu Yunhan, Dean of the Preparatory Department of the Beijing University of Languages and Culture Bi Hongying and other officials.    

The working languages of the seminar were Kazakh, Chinese, Russian and English. The participants of the seminar had a unique opportunity to familiarize themselves with their scientific and methodological research, exchange opinions and get answers to problematic questions. All this becomes particularly relevant at a time when teachers are forced to work in virtual mode due to the pandemic.

All participants unanimously noted the relevance and timeliness of this event, noted the high level of scientific and methodological work of the department staff and thanked for holding the seminar at the international level. The international seminar achieved its goal and was undoubtedly useful for all participants.

2021 is the year of the 60th anniversary of the human conquest of space. The space theme is always very interesting for young people. Foreign students, thanks to their teachers, are well aware that the world's first cosmodrome "Baikonur" is located on Kazakh soil. It was from here that on April 12, 1961, the legendary Yuri Gagarin set off on his high flight. This event was dedicated to an educational event held by the curators of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners. Students took part in an online tour of places related to the development of cosmonautics in the USSR, in Russia and in our country.

Teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-university Education of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, despite the limited online format of opportunities, conduct international events aimed at popularizing the teaching of Kazakh and Russian languages to foreign students. Another event of this kind was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and was held within the framework of the state program "Рухани жаңғыру". The results of the International Olympiad in Kazakh and Russian as Foreign Languages held by the teachers of the department were summed up at the event and the winners were announced. Active participants of the XXVII International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Students in Science – the intellectual potential of the future", held within the framework of the VIII International Farabi Readings, were also noted. In conclusion, the students demonstrated their talents by reading poems, singing songs in Kazakh and Russian. With pride and enthusiasm, the students talked about their achievements in mastering the Russian and Kazakh languages and, of course, thanked their teachers... Foreign students studying at the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners traditionally take an active part in the annual student conference. The 2020-2021 academic year, despite the difficulties of teaching Kazakh and Russian as foreign languages in an online format, was no exception.On April 7, under the guidance of the teachers of the department, the breakout sessions of the XXVII International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Students in Science - the intellectual potential of the future", held within the framework of the VIII International Farabi Readings, were held.

The conference was held in three sections, depending on the language of the reports: Kazakh, Russian, and English sections. The geography of the conference is very representative: 43 participants from 11 countries (Kazakhstan, China, South Korea, Singapore, Mongolia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine,   Turkmenistan, Morocco). A total of 40 reports were submitted. Young scientists from 11 universities took part in the conference this academic year: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kharkiv National Road University(Ukraine), Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, Abai Kazakh national Pedagogical University, Nur-Mubarak University, Kazakh University of Engineering and Technology, Zhejiang University (China), Kabul University (Afghanistan), Kandahar University (Afghanistan), Institute of Higher Education (Afghanistan), Sheikh Zayed University (Afghanistan).

The Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners for more than 35 years, is the main division of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which trains foreign students for further admission to universities in Kazakhstan.

Teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners traditionally acquaint foreign students studying at the Faculty of pre-university education with the culture, customs and traditions of the Kazakh people. The arrival of Spring for the Kazakhs has been a significant event since ancient times. Getting acquainted with the KORISU custom associated with getting out of Winter was the topic of the curatorial hour. The audience learned about another interesting national tradition that exists in Kazakhstan.

Russian Russian Literature Lovers Club leaders together with the curators-advisors of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-University Education devoted the next educational event to the image of Spring in the works of Russian poets. In particular, foreign listeners learned about the Russian poet Fyodor Tyutchev and some examples of his landscape lyrics. The online event was vividly illustrated with a slide show.

The Department of Language and General Education Training of foreigners holds open educational events, where foreign students learn about our country: about the main stages of history, culture, art, outstanding personalities, about everything that the state lives by and what may be interesting to students studying Kazakh and Russian languages. This year, all such events take on a special shade, as they are held under the sign of the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. "State symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan" - under this name, another educational faculty event was held, organized by the curators and leaders of the clubs "Kazakh Studies" and "Sayakhat". Students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of the Coat of Arms, Flag and Anthem of our country. The presentation shown to the audience vividly illustrated the teachers ' story.
