On April 3, 2021, the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, together with Ain Shams University (Egypt), held an international round table on the topic "Teaching the Chinese language online in a pandemic." In addition to the aforementioned organizations, the online meeting was also attended by teachers of the College of the Kazakh and Chinese languages, Confucius Institutes at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and at the University of Ain Shams in Egypt. The meeting discussed the issue of distance learning of the Chinese language in the context of the current global epidemic. Chinese teachers shared their online learning experience, problems and solutions. Experienced teachers of the Department of Chinese Studies, such as Bulbul Matai, Kulpynai Duisenbay, Karakat Dalelkyzy, Klara Mukatay, spoke about the history of teaching the Chinese language at our university, its current state, the work of the clubs, the process of teaching the Chinese language online. Each presentation ended with a series of questions and answers. Summing up the results of the meeting, Professor Esra of Ain Shams University noted that teachers of the Chinese language have a lot to learn from each other, the current situation and temporary difficulties in the modern world are common for everyone, and we can only togetherovercome them. We hope that international relations between universities will continue in the future.
