November 4, 2019 at the meeting of the Academic Council of Al-Farabi KazNU was held a ceremony of awarding scholarships «Choi Jae Hyung Memorial Association» in Seoul. Seven students(Korean studies) of Department of the Far East, Faculty of Oriental Studies received scholarships in the amount of 100,000 tenge (700,000 tenge). The scholarships will be awarded annually with funding support in the amount of $ 2,000 from the «Choi Jae Hyung Memorial Association». Through the scholarship, students had a good opportunity to get acquainted with the spirit and life of the patriot Choi Jae Hyung, who was involved in the anti-Japanese movement in the Russian Far East for the independence of the Korean Peninsula at the beginning of the 20th century. Holding this kind of event will facilitate further cooperation of the Departments of the Far East with the Memorial Association. And it will also raise students interest in Korean studies, and thus will make a great contribution to the development of the Department of the Far East and Al-Farabi KazNU.
