Abai is the great son of the Kazakh people, a talented poet. The moral life of Abay instills a sense of pride in the hearts of every Kazakh citizen. Each word of Abay is filled with art and is a commandment for man. "If you are looking for noble words, do not be lazy, read the works of Abai," said S. Toraigyrov. In order for young people to become more familiar with his work, on November 2 at the Faculty of Oriental Studies held a competition "Readers of Poems and Prose of Abai" dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Abay Kunanbayev.

The competition was attended by students of higher educational institutions of Almaty, studying the Chinese language. Among them were students of KazNU. Al-Farabi, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Sinology. In the competition, students competed in expressive reading by heart of Abay's poems and prose. According to the results of the competition, the 4th and 3rd place were taken by the students of the specialty Translation Services, Onlanova Zhanel and Maksut Aidana, and the 2nd year student of the specialty of Oriental Studies, Sovetova Moldir, took third place, they were awarded with special prizes.
