The teachers of Department of Fundamental Mathematics, Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty in the framework of the project " Айналаңды нұрландыр" charity event on the theme «We are merciful to the old age!» held

Winter School - a short-term training program for students, allowing plunging into the atmosphere of knowledge and to feel student's life of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. Wınter schools conduct for foreign students has become a tradition of the Department of Oriental Studies of the Far East.

The meeting of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia QS (United Kingdom) Regional Director Zoya Zaitseva with university management was held in KazNU. The meeting discussed key issues of activities of the university to improve the university rating indicators.

In the al-Farabi Kazakh National University had completed its work 1st Republic Winter Psychological School "Modern technologies in a consultative practice of the psychologist", which was held from 15 to 17 January 2016.

The World Congress of Turkic People (WCTP) honored KazNU after Al-Farabi as “The Best University of Turkic countries”. This highest recognition was announced by WCTP’s president Yahya Yusifogly Aliyev during the meeting with collectivity of KazNU.

In the course of the 46th Scientific Conference, within the walls of KazNU, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a meeting of the Educational and Methodical Association (EMA), where representatives of regional universities in cooperation with experts from industrial sectors discussed the amendments into the law «On education» in the system of staff training.

On January 8th, 2016 Al-Farabi KazNU Korean Studies Department graduate students were awarded with Korea Foundation Fellowship for Graduate Studies.

9-10 January wasorganized 3x3 basketball tournament"Winter Jam". The tournament was organized by the Basketball Academy Drive supported by al-Farabi namedKazakh National University, the Basketball Federation of Kazakhstan and streetball league of Kazakhstan.

In December 2015, the University of the KazNU was named Republican tournament Shaysultan Shayakhmetov Sambo.
