Winter School - a short-term training program for students, allowing plunging into the atmosphere of knowledge and to feel student's life of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. Wınter schools conduct for foreign students has become a tradition of the Department of Oriental Studies of the Far East.

In order to implement the strategic development of the university, external academic mobility of the Far East Department initiated a winter school on holidays in 2015-2016 academic year. Kookmin Universities' students (Seoul, Republic of Korea) in the amount of 17 people, as well as Professor Ryoo Sungchang were invited from January 18 to January 25, 2016. There was a course "Regional. Politics, economics and culture of Central Asia", which also included a field research in Kazakhstan.

On completion of the course the students were awarded with certificates.
