SDG 2. "We are what we eat"

December 6, 2023 teachers of the Department of Biotechnology doctor of biological sciences, professor Karpenyuk T.A., candidate of biological sciences, associate professor Goncharova A.V. (with the participation of 1st year undergraduate students Bekkulievа D.A., Nurkhozhaevа L.M.) held a meeting on the topic “We are what we eat” with 3rd year students of the specialty “Biotechnology”. Nutrition is one of the main environmental factors that determine human health, normal growth and development, physical and mental performance, life expectancy, and the body’s resistance to diseases and harmful environmental factors.

During the meeting, the basic principles of proper nutrition, the impact of a healthy diet on human health, familiarization and introduction of a culture of proper nutrition to prevent diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes were covered in the format of an interactive game and presentation. The issues of food shortages, increasing food waste, food safety issues and measures to combat hunger were also addressed.
