Roundtable on "Secularism and Islam in the Modern State"

November 3, 2022 held a round table on "Secularism and Islam in the modern state," organized by the Department of International Law together with the Department of Religious and Cultural Studies.At the round table were invited faculty lecturers, doctoral students, undergraduates and students.

The moderator of the round table was associate professor G.A. Mashimbayeva. Welcoming remarks were made by Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Zhekenov D.K. and Head of the Department of International Law Sairambaeva Zh.T.

The round table participants discussed the most topical issues: the relationship of secularism and Islamic culture and education, secularism and Islam in Kazakhstan, political Islam, the securitization of Islam in the modern world.

With reports made by undergraduates of 2 course of OP "International law" Orazaeva A.B., Mereke B.N., Tasan S.E., Pirnazarov K.B., and the doctoral student of 1 course of chair of religious studies and culturology Bolatjan Al-Farabi.

The invited guests-experts - senior lecturer of the Department of religious and cultural studies Berikbaev Elnar Galymzhanovich shared his practical experience, noted the activities of DUMK, explained the terms of criminal responsibility for dissemination of information relating to extremism. Professor Aidarbayev Sagyngaly Zholamanovich and Associate Professor Samaldykov Maksut Kushekovich made a speech.

The participants of the round table decided that such inter-faculty and inter-departmental scientific and practical cooperation and legal education in the field of law and Islam should be developed. We thank the participants of the round table for their participation!
