Department history

The Department of Fundamental Medicine as part of the Higher School of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine and Health of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was organized by the Order of the Rector in 2018. From this moment to the present, the department is headed by Ph.D. Sarsenova Lazzat Kadyrgalievna.

In the first academic year, 52 people were admitted to the General Medicine program, of which 34 were foreign students. The idea of a new medical training program in the newly created school was an integrated interdisciplinary approach to teaching, the widespread introduction of active learning methods (PBL, TBL, CBL) and the maximum use of the capabilities of a multidisciplinary university. Often, classes were taught simultaneously by several different specialists, which provided an integrated consideration of the key phenomena of the functioning of the human body.
