Henk Frenken

My professional career began in 1972 as a biology teacher at a secondary school in the Netherlands. In 1984 I moved to Zimbabwe where I taught science for three years at a remote rural school. In 1988, I enrolled at the Free University of Amsterdam and was transferred to the Faculty of Science Teacher Training at the University of Botswana. From 1992 to 1998, I worked for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a specialist at the Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique, where I taught young university staff. From 1999 to 2019 I worked at ICLON, a graduate school at Leiden University in the Netherlands. I have been involved in secondary school and university teacher training and have specialized in online learning and curriculum development. At Leiden University, I worked on projects with many countries, including Kazakhstan, within the framework of the Bolashak and Erasmus programs. Since 2019, I am officially retired, but still working... For several months, I was a guest lecturer at KAZGUU University in Nur-Sultan, Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University and the Academy of Civil Aviation in Almaty. I also work online with Indonesian and Libyan trainers.

I received two master's degrees: in biological sciences and education in biology, and also took a number of specialized training courses in education and project management.

I love teaching. Being creative is a very rewarding profession and has allowed me to see many parts of the world!

Also, online trainings with the participation of Henk Frenken will be held at our University. You can see the program below.
