May 28, 2020 FSBEI HE “Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation” together with the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility of the Russian Managers Association (AMR) and the Association of Business Ethics, Compliance and CSR (Russian Business Ethics Network) May 28-29, 2020 held the XVI International scientific-practical conference "Corporate social responsibility and business ethics."

Dissertation Council at Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University modified its policy on remote PhD thesis defences. The second online defence of PhD thesis doctoral student Assel Kozhakhmetova: “Evaluation of high-tech project success in the Republic of Kazakhstan based on international standards of project management” (specialty “6D051800 - Project management”). Domestic scientific consultant - Doctor of Economics, professor Mukhtarova K.S., foreign scientific consultant - PhD, PMP Ofer Zuikael.

The main discussion revolved around the implementation within the EAEU of common educational standards for educational programs in public administration. In fact, a heated discussion on this issue was caused by the speech of the associate professor of the Department of Management of KazNU named after al-Farabi Zh.O. Tumbai. 

Dissertation Council at Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for the first time modified its policy on remote PhD thesis defences. Doctoral student Bekturganova M.S. with thesis title: "Priorities and economic mechanisms of transitions to low-carbon development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry" (specialty "6D050600 - Economics») .

May 9, 2020 Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of Management Department of al-Farabi KazNU A. Turginbaeva took part in the action "Bridges of memory", dedicated to the anniversary of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the World War II. The event was organized by the Department of Social Technologies and Public Service of Belgorod State University, together with the Institute for Cross-Border Cooperation and Integration. Colleagues from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Kyrgyzstan were invited to honor the memory of the heroes of the World War II. There were about 60 participants in the action in the format of the ZOOM video conference.

The head of Management Department took part in the Video conference “Civil Initiative in a Pandemic”

May 7, 2020 at 12:00 Moscow time, the head of Management Department of KazNU named after al-Farabi Turginbaev A.N. took part in the Video conference “Civil Initiative in a Pandemic” organized by Institute for Cross-Border Cooperation and Integration (Russia).
The following issues were discussed during Conference call:
1. Support for civil initiatives in the EAEU space aimed at integration and cooperation.
2. Development and implementation of socially significant projects and civic initiatives.
3. The role of public diplomacy projects in a pandemic.
4. Trust in a pandemic.

On April 15, 2020, a video conference "Modernization of public administration in the EEU countries" was held, which brought together scientists, experts and journalists from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. During the videoconference, issues of information and communication technologies in public administration, administrative reforms in the post-Soviet space, as well as the role of the third sector in the modernization of public administration were discussed. The thesis was voiced that the exchange of experience allows the academic and expert community to find the most optimal models of public administration, affects the effectiveness of the organization of the public administration system not only for the EEU member States, but also for States that are ready to cooperate.

The lecturers of Management department took part in a master class on the topic "Modern Business Education: Challenges, Prospects, Trends", conducted by founder of Almaty Management University (AlmaU), graduate and philanthropist of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, doctor of business administration , the president of ALE "Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan" Mr. Asylbek Kozhakhmetov.

Participants of the 50th International scientific and methodological conference "A modern interpretation of the pedagogical concept of al-Farabi in the context of digitalization of education" dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Al-Farabi were awarded for outstanding active participation by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Al-Farabi KazNU A. Khikmetov.
