Work of the research center "The Study of Oriental Manuscripts" at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi KazNU:

1. Creation of a fund of manuscripts written in the oriental (Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Chagatai) languages ​​and Arabic (stepwise, direct) graphics, found on the territory of Kazakhstan;

2. Development of a sectoral index of manuscripts, which can serve as a basis for research in the field of history, ethnography, archeology, philology, literature, philosophy, religion, oriental studies, Turkic studies;

3. Compilation of electronic and printed catalogs of electronic manuscripts;

4. Distribution of the printed catalog of manuscripts in the libraries of the country and abroad, publication of the electronic catalog on the website of the Al-Farabi library;

5. Acceptance of orders from readers of far and eastern countries according to the catalog on the site and the provision of paid services for this order;

6. Research of found manuscripts, their introduction into scientific circulation;

7. Promotion of Kazakh history, literature, language and culture at the world level through these works, popularization of Kazakh science through written monuments (to develop special projects and create a working group);

8. To revise the studies of the Kazakh steppe, carried out so far on the basis of the work of foreign experts, through original research; thereby creating a new domestic approach, developing new scientific findings;

Application of world experience, Eastern and Western research methods in the study of manuscripts in the collection, in particular:

a) transcription;

b) linguistic, historical, structural analysis;

c) compiling a dictionary;

d) publication of the results of work in the form of a monograph, research work, individual project or dissertation research with the publication of previously unknown written artifacts
