We are pleased to announce the Regional Conference “Power, People and Cultural Change in an ever-evolving Central Asia”, organized by the European Society for Central Asian Studies (ESCAS) in cooperation with al Farabi Kazakh National University.

The aim of the conference is to discuss and analyze contemporary challenges and problems related to power, people and cultural change in Central Asia and their impact on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. The conference will bring together researchers, experts working in the field of Central Asian studies, and students. The broad scope of the conference is particularly suitable for interdisciplinary cooperation.

 

The vast region of Central Asia as a theme encourages participants to look at the ongoing processes from the perspective of the changing role of the region in economic, cultural and developmental issues.

 

The conference will discuss various topics including political governance, social development, cultural diversity, economic stability and environmental sustainability. Participants will present their research papers, studies and case studies related to these issues and their linkages with the SDGs.

 

The conference will also include plenary sessions, roundtables, and workshops, providing an opportunity for an active exchange of ideas and experiences related to power, people, and cultural change in Central Asia and their impact on the SDGs.
