December 8, 2017 Department of Sociology and Social Work of KazNU al-Farabi took part in the International Sociological Marathon "Researcher 2.0: Transformation of the Profession in the Digital Age" (on the 30th anniversary of the Russian industry of public opinion research), organized by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion.

The event was aimed at discussing current trends and prospects for the development of society, industry and the profession of the researcher.

In a direct line, the staff of VTsIOM and other research companies touched upon the most important issues of the impact of the challenges of modern society and market needs on the directions, methods and technologies of social research, the competence of the researcher.

Students, young scientists and teachers of the department were able to become participants in a professional dialogue with leading scientists and specialists of the research industry, to receive answers to many interesting questions on current trends in applied sociology.

The sociological marathon consisted of several thematic sessions:

1. Society. Key trends, the impact on the scope of research, the willingness of society and industry for the future.

2. Research. Key trends, new methods and technologies, digital-research, combination.

3. Direct line with the General Director of All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center V. Fedorov.
